Early signs from Georgia and Portugal that they are taking steps backwards (actually Georgia underperformed at the World Cup as well and Portugal lost some of its key players like Marques)
south africans of dutch descent who have moved back to netherlands have had a big impact on NL cricket. wonder if the same will ultimately happen with the rugby. would be great for the game
From a south African SPRINBOK SUPPORTER. I think Germany done very well showing glimpses of great potential even though losing THEY must not lose heart they can and will improve there is great potential here the German PUBLIC MUST get to the games and support their team. I like what I see.
Basically what teams like Germany need to step up to a higher league is player numbers, and perhaps top coaching input. The Auckland Blues have a 22 year old German loose forward by the name of Anton Segner who has realistic All Black aspirations. Came as a 16 year old to play NZ school rugby, ended up in the NZ schools team and then the NZ under 20's.
More needs to be done, I agree. So many ex players can go to countries like these, and share their wealth of knowledge and experience with them, with the ultimate goal, to have no Tiers in rugby anymore. World rugby can also do more to ensure the longevity of the sport in these counties, but funding them more than the tier 1 nations. More exposure and leagues in these countries, will only grow the game. It should be world rugby’s most important agenda, and secondly, the laws of the game. Do that, and you’ll see a different rugby landscape in 20 years. It’s what we all want
& he's worked extremely hard & the results are starting to speak for themselves. He'll be a great asset for Germany, after he's made the ABs. Absolute gun.
For Georgia, this is equivalent to a loss. Georgia played terribly. However, Georgia has a new coach and it was the first game for him. There were also many debutantes
I love to watch the 'lesser' rugby nations showing their growing skills! It was the same with the USA & Canada teams, back in the 90's World-Cup competitions, now they're pretty much established as good 2nd tier sides, knocking on the big-boys door!! It's the same with 2nd tier cricket sides, like Ireland & The Netherlands, just bloody good entertainment!
I tell you what if the Germans take rugby as seriously as the UK teams do, they will become world champs. They have awesome sports systems, coaching, facilities and talent.
Thank you. Yeah that's where I unusually watch games live but if you want to watch replays they have the score there near the "play" button. Was hoping to watch it without knowing the result
There is no reason to be happy after this match. The level was low. The reason because the difference was so small is because Georgia didn't use best players and not because Germany improved their rugby. Same for Portugal against Belgium. Three months ago Portugal beat Fiji and today they lost against Belgium. There is only one explanation, the level of tier 2 nations is going down.
Wow.. what a top drawer try by Germany n15! Lovely bit of skill, vision, execution. Also about 4 forward passes in a row on Georgias fourth try 😂 But it's great to see the quality of other teams getting better and better, more competition! 🦾
