I live in Germany as Dutch person. I see it from the other end. I like the Bäckerei. The problem is that the Dutch started to buy the bread in the supermarket and most of the small shops disappeared. Most probably this did not happen in Germany because all other shops are closed on Sundays. So they have an advantage. What is interesting in Germany that the people still use cash instead of cards. The internet coverage is worse. In general people are more cautious to try new things. Germans love paper documents and forms. People want you to speak German here. In the Netherlands it is ok if someone speaks English. Just a small collection. Nice video!

I’m from northern Germany :) we have more in common with the Dutch than with for example Bavarians...we’re closer in location and culture - we understand the same dry humor and appreciation for wind and open-minded people

@@519djw6 Ich denke, das ist nicht der Punkt. Es wohl eher so, dass man hier sehen kann, wie sich akademische Meriten nicht immer auszahlen müssen. Gerade im künstlerischen Bereich nicht. Aber solange man etwas macht, von dem man leben kann, man glücklich und erfüllt damit ist, ist am Ende doch alles in Ordnung. Kunst darf man ohnehin nicht studieren, um hinterher das große Geld zu erwarten.

I’ve visited both countries and found the people very friendly. I disagree that in the Netherlands the people are more relaxed about following rules ... I went out at night and noticed how they waited for “green” crossing lights before walking ... even with no traffic. I loved it. I do agree about the food ... German is better and Belgian is much better. But The Netherlands is wonderful!

Yeah well..I live in the Netherlands and I've visited someone in Emmerich for over a year. One of the first times we went there, I was sitting on the back of the bicycle and we were fined for being a 'danger to public safety', after we crossed the border into Germany. Not to mention, every time we accidentally cycled on the sidewalk (nobody there) or did anything else to disturb the unimportant-rules. Believe me, in comparison, the Germans will scream at you, when you walk through a red light crossing and the Dutch will giggle when you do it.

@@mariadebake5483 Nou, als je tenminste geen vegetariër bent, dan wil het nog wel eens helpen om met veel lekkerder vlees te beginnen. Een hamburger van de beste tartaar die je kan kopen (en zelf gesneden uien) is 100x lekkerder dan iets dat niks mag kosten. Dat is de ellende met frikandellen. Ze maken miljoenen en ze maken ze niet van topkwaliteit biefstuk. Geen wonder dat je ze niet lust. Je proeft haast alleen maar nootmuskaat. De smaak van het vlees varieert tussen "gaat wel" en "dit is niet echt lekker". Het zal best aan alle normen voldoen, maar als alleen de fans het lekker vinden, dan vinden normale mensen ze terecht niet lekker. Volgens mij zijn frikandellen te goedkoop gemaakt. Dan komt het dus nooit meer goed.

I don’t eat white bread so I can’t compare those. I don’t like the German light brown sour bread. They lie as a stone on your stomach, like we say. And the taste is awful. I prefer the Dutch bread especially the whole grain varieties, but only from the bakery, not from the supermarket. I like the double baked ones with the crispy crust. I hate supermarket bread, I always buy my bread at the bakery. I do like the German Brötchen though, those are better than in The Netherlands. And I hate the Dutch kadetjes, they are soft, compressible, soggy rolls. So bread from The Netherlands and rolls/buns from Germany.

What makes Germany interesting is the diversity, Germanic and non-Germanic cultural super-diversity, and focusing on the Germanic super-diversity in it and that the northern center of it is linked to West and North Germanic cultures and languages, such as Anglican, Dutch, Flemish and Luxembourgish and all Scandinavian and Frisian languages. The center south of Germany is well connected to the Bavarian language and culture of Austria and Liechtenstein to South Tyrol, to the Alsatian unfortunately today in France, to the Swiss German in Switzerland. This is what makes Germany the meeting place of many Germanic peoples. I've always seen it as a pretense to want to summarize and standardize Germany in a single word. The rule conformity of Germans is vastly overrated. I don't behave like that if a traffic light is red in the middle of the night. And i don't know many others who behave like that. But i do so in the daytime because children shall not learn to ignore traffic lights.

@@gabrielemariotti5780 Sausage and mashed potatoes is Wurst und Pommes, that's German. Only the Sauerkraut missing in that one. If you're going for typical Dutch, you can have the following 5 dishes; 1. Steak (or similar, or meat-replacement) with green beans and cooked potatoes. 2. Hutspot. Cooked potatoes, onions, carrots, mashed into one pile. Preferably with bits of meat on top. You can also add white beans or other stuff, whatever you want. 3. Pea-soup. Usually with a sausage (indeed) and bits of onion and leeks, turnips, etcetera. Eaten with rye bread. Popular on ice-skating-events. 4. Cauliflower with cooked potatoes and meatballs. 5. Pannekoeken (Dutch pancakes) with apple/bacon/syrup/raisins/etcetera, whatever you want.

Ich habe als Niederländer ein Semester in Deutschland studiert und die Unterschiede zwischen Deutschland und Holland habe ich auch so erfahren. Die Mensa in Köln machte auf mich einen großen Eindruck, man konnte jeden Tag aus den unterschiedlichsten Gerichten wählen. 😋

Hallo, mijn Duits is niet zo goed maar wordt wel beter door Easy German! Dank! :) Aber... Studenten essen fast-food, wir essen ganz anderen Sachen. A common misconception by all tourists and vielen expats... Sie gehen nur nach Febo für Snacks!!! Normalerweise essen wir ungefähr wie die Deutschen. Viel Kartoffeln, viel Brot (und nicht nur Supermarkt Brot!!), Suppe, Fleisch (Wurst, etc... Aber Schnitzel ist für die Deutschen :)). Wahrscheinlich mehr Reis (Indonesien!), und pasta (nicht sicher). In the west and north we also eat quite a lot of fish and seafood (Haring! Mosselen.. :)) Kortom, de echte Nederlandse keuken is heel anders dan het stereotype beeld! (the English Wikipedia topic on Dutch food is - last time I checked - actually not that bad. Don't know who wrote it, but it gives quite a good picture) Herzliche Grüße aus Amsterdam! :)

Sehr kurzweiliges Video und sehr sympathische Präsentatorin! Die frittierten Sachen aus den Automaten mag ich sehr gerne, am liebsten Kaassoufflé. :) Müsste mal wieder zumindest für einen Tagesausflug rüber (bin nicht sehr weit von der Grenze weg). Die Küste ist meist auch sehr schön mit den vielen weiten Dünen.

It's still different. You need to love the "fluffy and puffy" kind of bread in the Netherlands. As a German, I like it though. Whenever I'm visiting Enschede, I buy some bread. I suppose, it's just that you miss all the things you can't get. Nevertheless, the Netherlands have great food readily available at every supermarket, stuff you definitely miss in Germany.

Holland bezieht sich nur auf zwei Provinzen, Süd- und Nordholland. Der richtige Name ist Niederlande. Enschede liegt in der Provinz Overijssel.

Lol, I am from the Netherlands and I have the actual opposite that I miss Dutch Bread a lot when I am in Germany xD But except for that, overall the food is way better in Germany than in NL.

ich halte die Deutschen nicht für bitterernst, die meisten mit denen ich bisher umgangen habe halte ich aber für sehr humorvolle Leute, in Kolumbien wo ich ursprünglich herkomme tendieren wir dazu aber sehr uns große Lustig über fast alles machen oder ständig Witze machen, näturlich es wird häufiger in gewissen Städten des Landes getan als in anderen aber die meisten Deutschen auf denen ich auf Parties oder Veranstaltungen gestoßen hab, machen immer auf mich den Eindruck einen großen Sinn für Humor haben, fast immer wenn wir einen Witze erzählen sie lachen normalerweise ungehemmt darüber, also ich halte das eher für einen Vorurteil dass die meisten Deutschen gar keine Miene an Witzen oder etwas lustiges verziehen oder dass die in den Keller zum Lachen gehen. Die sind eher ganz humorvoll meiner meinung nach, und das behaupte ich aus Erfahrung.

Strange that everyone seems to think we only eat deep fried food... obviously have never been inside dutch houses, eating together with the family. And the bread the man was showing was so-called fabrieksbrood, which is the worst you can get here. Normal fresh bread is much better and comes in many varieties

The Dutch are frugal. You won’t find dutch cuisine in many restaurants because they cook it at home. An additional factor that causes that is that every family makes their Dutch dishes slightly different so if you cook it one way in your restaurant then people will often say it’s either wrong or not to their taste. So that’s why Dutch food that’s publicly consumed is very snacky and not a full meal. Actual restaurants usually sell foreign foods. However, Dutch snacks and dairy are phenomenal though perhaps best consumed in moderation because it’s often fried (not the dairy of course)

I'm Dutch, and I think those Germans are right, Dutch bread often feels and tastes like a sponge. In Germany, you find high-quality bread everywhere. So isn't there any good Dutch bread? Yes, there is! But it takes time to find it! Or, try roggebrood. You either hate it or love it.

@@frankrault3190 I'm completely with you here. The same goes for Polish bread, which also normally feels and tastes like a sponge. Bread in Germany is exceptionally good and relatively inexpensive. It is also possible to find good quality bread in Poland, but it's then rather pricey, whereas here in Germany it's regular bread found in most supermarkets and bakeries that tastes great and has nice texture. Sehr günstig und schmekt echt lecker.

@@alabamabilly Miss ga ik wel een bakker opleiding in Duitsland proberen... Wil graag een bakkerij of überhaupt iets in de horeca gaan doen en dan het liefst in Zuid Korea. Ik wil dus Duits leren en Koreaans.. En ik moet dan een Duitse bakkers opleiding hebben en miss een business opleiding of er kennis van hebben.... I suspect the food issues are due to the different times of day that the main meal is consumed. In Germany I think the midday meal is the most important one, yet in Holland they only eat simple things for lunch like sandwiches or snacks. And the main meal is in the evening, when Germans only eat bread. I may be wrong, but that's what I suspect, having lived in both countries.

I now live in Enschede for my studies, I am also from the Netherlands. I recognize a lot here now, both the place and the Germans. Germans at my school are also easy to identify without hearing them speak. Haha. Ik leef nu in Enschede voor mijn studie, ik komt tevens uit Nederland. Ik herken heel veel hier nu, zowel de plaats als de Duitsers. De Duitsers op mijn school zijn ook makkelijk aan te wijzen, zonder dat je ze hoort praten. Haha. (Ich habe zwei jahren Deutch gelernet, auf die Mittelbare schüle, but I never didnt realy had a feeling with it, und es tut mir leid, weil ich Deutsch sprechen möchte. (De laatste zin in van Google Translate.))

Holländisches Bier schmeckt auch sehr gut. Grolsch (basiert in Enschede) ist lecker z. B.. Und in den Niederlanden kann man (im Gegensatz zu Deutschland) sehr oft Importbier trinken, zum Beispiel aus Belgien aber auch aus Deutschland. Paulaner und Erdinger gibt es in vielen Kneipen.
