This piece is just out of this world. I'm completely blown away by his talent regardless of his age.

I recently learned to play this myself. It's a fun fiddle tune. He does play it with a clearer tone though, much better than me. Excellent performance.

@@funksystem267 Are only people, that play the fiddle allowed to write something about it? Are all the peolpe that wrote something all fiddle players? Think! I repeat what I said, this tune is played much too fast. If he wants to show, he can play fast, there is other music for that to show.

@@funksystem267 I am not envious. I just see someone, that plays bad. The speed is wrong for this kind of music. To play fast is not always matching. Play Mozart about 4 times faster than usual. Is that good? No, it is bad.

Good technique, bad rhythm. Try tapping your foot to it and you'll see what I mean. His playing's got a lot of qualities I would give anything for, but not rhythm. I see this was posted 4 years ago, so perhaps he's put it right by now. Also, credit where it's due: This tune was composed by Amy Cann, a contradance fiddler from New Hampshire.

needs a bodhran
@dukadarodear2176
@dukadarodear2176 4 года назад
Ye need to be careful about who plays the bodhrán. It comes from the Irish word 'bodhar' meaning 'deaf'. Many bodhrán players are nothing more than deafeners. A few are very good.

The video is sped up. He's rather good for his age but the playback speed has been altered, which is pretentious.
@ianworpole2947
@ianworpole2947 8 лет назад
+Spencer Noble How on earth do you deduce this? It's exactly in the key of G from start to finish, the key it was written in. The applause at the end sounds to be at a perfectly normal pitch; his movements are perfectly natural.
@spencerbrodrick57
@spencerbrodrick57 8 лет назад
+Ian Worpole Hey Ian, you're right about the beginning and end. The beginning and end are at regular speed. The speed shifts first at 6 seconds and again at 1:14 when he also speeds up in his performance. Then it's back to normal at 1:52ish. His movements are unnaturally twitchy and his fringe sways unusually fast when he cocks his head. The change in frame rate is visible in the video too. Obviously in the digital age speed can be increased without changing the pitch. I'm not trying to be a knob or anything, I just think it's quite obvious. It's a cool effect though so maybe the guy who edited the video would like to add something.

+Spencer Noble You're reading way to much into this train of thought my man. Instead of ridicule, how about you just enjoy the performance rather than be a skeptic. Sure, it's unbelievable. So are the folks who solve a Rubik cube in fifteen seconds. Just because it defies senses doesn't mean it's a sham.
@spencerbrodrick57
@spencerbrodrick57 8 лет назад
+Parizzle Ah well thanks for considering what I said. I'm staying on record believing it's been sped up. Everyone else can make their mind up themselves. It's not a knock, just an observation. Peace x
@PyroGhost913
@PyroGhost913 8 лет назад
+Spencer Noble I think it's sped up too. I also think he was playing it too fast originally, because he doesn't have as much expression in it as he could. That's a matter of preference, but I've always liked rhythm over speed.
