First tune we call cairnsy forever after a member who passed away in 2009, it is a version of sprigs of kilrea, tune around 8 mins we call wee magregor, it's a jig. This clip has generated interest from both sides if the divide, been some good debates going on, thanks all for watching and up the Gert!
Iam a loyal protestant and an orange man i know my place in society i will be over shotly to lay a wreath at my brothers grave i know i wlll be accepted
I've Catholic mates who watch the lodge on the 12th. They actually like listening to the bands. That's the best thing about Liverpool, our Irish descendants were from the Republic, we didn't really suffer that much from the Northern Irish disease of bigotry. It did exist decades ago, but not the scale of Belfast or Glasgow.
The colour party were actually to march by ex-servicemen, and as they have only been marching for a year or two now they are doing well. Compared to when we first decided on having a colour party we are very pleased with the progress they have made.
Pretty constructive comments in here regarding our colour party and bass drum, can see where you are coming from with these, each year we try and rectify the previous years difficiansies, and it's always helpful when others can help us to spot them. These two have been discussed and we are working on them and indeed all aspects of our band thanks for all replies and to d for the video.
The eire55, even with you being from the other side if the fence so to speak I read your comments and appreciate them. I'm a member of the band, long standing, and agree that at times the bass drum in that clip is out of time. On the while the bass drum is played well, in that clip and by our band in general, bear in mind we had been collecting and meeting and greeting people from 10 am that Saturday, and this was around 11pm by the time we walked . Lot of tired people in the ranks, bass dru
see by the comments that the obsessed are actively watching these how much do you actually have to hate something you would watch it then spew out your bile.
I'm not bring biased, I'm actually very hard to please. I have watched the whole thing about 3 times & still get the same buzz as I did the first time I watched it! You're a catholic & you're views are always gonna be negative, if you where a Protestant this would make you proud, our culture is rich & full of pride, but I suppose you wouldn't know what that's like
That's it ,you stick to your culture , such as it is , hating Catholics, band practice and collecting for the boney ( punting drugs). But it is we Fenians who have to choose whether to go to QUB or Trinity college Dublin. Carry on looking back to 1690 while we focus on the future. Coincidentally several of the tunes featured here were first aired by the papist Jacobite armies of the Scottish Highlands but like everything else you possess they were plagiarized and purloined by the same people cast out of Britain for sheep and cattle rustling. 🐑Your granda. 🐖
Have you any influence with the band 63gc. I like and admire the GS for their dedication to the marching scene, but please, who taught the colour party and escort to march palm down and above shoulder level, are they marching or swinging through the trees. I only comment as many seem to be emulating them, and as a colour party is usually the first part of a band you see they should set an impressive standard not appear to be part of some third world dictators militia. Just a thought.
I seen a republican parade a few years ago & compared to ulster men its like watching an old women with Alzheimer's trying to recognise her family, I was embarrassed & I am willing to embrace any culture & be part of what other people believe unlike some! One of the reasons we play a hand full of the dubliners songs, we're celebrating our culture i& if you can't accept that please don't come on RU-vid & watch our videos
1907boarderline thats the East belfasy style once get used to it makes sense. Not make cuppa T but style is different from Shankill for example funny or daft as it sounds.
Bass drummers even more so. In response to ripping of republican tunes I don't see it that way, music is music, and although tunes may be the same or siimlar words may have been changed, take football terrace chants as an example. Criticism us fine as long as constructive, we do try, and will continue to, what is your view on the republican flute bands??
