For the monitor that you have you don’t need that adapter. You need to go into the PS5 settings and change the Game Defaults to Performance Mode. Once you do that you will output 1080p @120hz without the adapter and your regular HDMI. That’s because your monitor outputs up to 1440p. I can see the adapter being used on a 4K Monitor that output 120hz but only has HDMI 2.0. You can only unlock 4K @120hz via display port on those monitors.
I have a gaming screen that supports 4k 60hz, but it has an hdmi 2.0 port. Can I use an adapter like this and it gives me 120hz even if it is on 1080p .. If it is possible, do you recommend a specific adapter??
Problem is a lot of monitors are high hz exclusive to display port. This should have worked. However. The PS5 isn’t in performance mode and ray tracing has to be disabled. For 1080 120hz. Try that and let us know your results!
I'm getting 120 hz with an hdmi. You just have to put ps5 in performance mode in the saved data and game/app settings. Although the only game available in 120 hz at the moment is call of duty cold war
Try messing around with edid settings in the monitor with cru software, as long as the monitor can do 1080p 120 hz with the hdmi.. in windows try setting up custum resolution with cru untill the ps5 accepts one. Lol worth a try.
Yea I'm on 120 hz with hdmi its amazing. Though I do wonder if a display port is any better for ps5. I know you need hdmi for some remote features because a display port is made for pc
Dude you need a display port to hdmi adapter that handles 120Hz or 144hz at 1440p or 4k. Which there isn’t any out there as far as I seen. I’ve only seen 30hz or 60hz.
ya apparently it seems to be limited by the game itself. cod cold war runs 120 no problem but only 60 for everything else. trust me this isnt the fix apparently
SO! If no one has figured it out I DID! YOU’RE FUCKED! However... here is the reason. 1.4 Can run 1080p 120hz.. So if you have a 4K monitor with downscaling or a 1080p 120hz monitor you’re golden! 1440p monitors... YOU CAN’T! HDMI 2.0 Doesn’t allow 1440p to downscale to 1080 @ 120hz! Only 4K downscale :(
You should know that it’s supposed to be a 2.1 ps5 doesn’t and will never support display port unfortunately. Only option is to get a display that does 2.1 hdmi
@@paytonshrieves4685 yes, the next gen HDMI (2.1) cable is called "Ultra High Speed" That Will Have The 48Gbps transfer rate you need... All the valid cables will have a certification label for you to scan with the HDMI Certification app
if you have a gaming laptop that has built in 144hz but you have a 240 hz monitor, can you use the DP to HDMI cable will I be able to unlock 240hz?? or will I stay stuck at 144hz.
I set it to performance mode and everything and it still stays at 60 and I’m wondering if you have to have a different hdmi than the one that comes with the PS5 or not
Get a Samsung Oddessey 1440p monitor. My 1440p monitor shows 4k at 60hz when plugged into PS5. If the game has a 120hz option games display 1080p at 120hz but you have to put the PS5 into performance mode.
@Alex V your monitor is not 1.4.. your cable could be 1.4 but the port of your monitor is forsure 2.0 thats where all of you guys are getting confused. So if your monitor port is 1.4 then no you wont be able to get the 120hz on FHD... 3D only. 2.0 & 2.1 hdmi supported monitors or tv will get you what you need as in performance
Not true, some monitors are 144hz and still aernt able to run cod at 120 because of settings in monitor not allowing it to run at higher refresh rates because of hdmi port
