Seems over engineered. I can think of mechanical ways to do the exact same thing. Only advantage this has is ability to adapt, but in assembly lines that is rarely needed.
+Dan S Yeah - for example they use simple suction in egg plants. For me it's seems like someone just got money and they had to "invent" something. For example can it lift a brick? I think not.
Seems like this kind of gripper would be negatively affected by dust fouling. The world is a dirty place, except maybe in intentionally engineered cleanroom environments.
