One of the first lessons Service Members learn is "Don't Go Anywhere Without a Battle Buddy". The same applies to your military transition. The only caveat is that your Battle Buddy should be someone a couple months ahead of you in the process.

Great advice sir, that’s exactly what I did. I spoke with several buddies on my way out the door and have helped a bunch making the transition. On the VA disability payments, a PFC’s broken leg is worth the same as a COL’s broken leg, in the VA’s eyes, a broken leg is a broken leg.

Thanks @moto-foody. I thought I was talking to the right buddies, but it turned out that they were not far enough thru the process. They hadn't really "become veterans" yet.

let go of the RANK!...I divorced my 1st wife b/c she didn't yell AT EASE when I came home in the evening... Battle Buddy is a great idea...like a sponsor ahead and another behind in a PCS...help smooth out bumps. Team Work Makes the Dream Work!
