Get Apple CarPlay on your Android tablet with the CarLinkIt USB Dongle

Here is a quick demonstration on connecting wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto with your Brainiac Kit!
Find all our products here:

CarLinkIt USB Dongle:

AutoKit APK URL:
121.40.123.198:8080/AutoKit/AutoKit.apk
(CarLinkIt Wi-fi Code is 12345678)
Step by Step Installation:
1) Download and install the APK App (AutoKit) from your tablets browser by typing the URL above.
(you will be required to allow the web browser to install unknown apps, you should be automatically redirected to that setting)
2) Connect the CarLinkIt USB Dongle to 1 of the 4 USB Ports on your MK1.7 Electronics or MK1 Companion kit
3) Connect your phones Wi-Fi & Bluetooth ("AutoKit-****") to the CarLinkIt USB Dongle.
Make sure your phone is not connected to any other devices during this time (Wi-fi Code is 12345678)
4) Ensure your tablet is connected to the charging cable & proceed to open the AutoKit App to view your CarPlay / Android Auto
Notes:
- After installing the AutoKit App you might need to update the App by simply clicking "update" on the pop-up that appears.
- For Wired CarPlay / Android Auto, simply connect your phone charging cable to the CarLinkIt Dongle for an easy Plug & Play Installation!

You mentioned that you have to connect to the wifi of the dongle from your phone. does this mean that cellular data will not be available from your iPhone? Edit: Nvm. I see it connects via bluetooth.

What do i exately need to get CarPlay on an Android tablet ? Have a Galaxy Tab Active 2 i would like to put on my motorcycle. And i have usb A charging port on it.

You would need the companion kit which will keep the tablet charging and at the same time detect USB accessories. The Companion connects to power and ground of the vehicles stereo harness. We haven't tested it on a motorcycle, however I assume it would be similar. workshoptwelve.com/products/companion

The companion kit is used for usb support for people with pre existing head units while the Mk 1.7 electronics in addition to having a usb hub comes with an amplifier with rca plugs and a volume gain to play music.

Hello, I have Carlinkit 5.0 2 air, I have the adapter that powers, it recognizes the usb in the autokit, but when I connect Carplay instead of opening the screen, it asks which application I want to open and does not connect the screen. Mine is a Samsung tablet.

The tablet does not always need to be connected to a Wi-Fi while using Carplay as it is piggy backing off of your phones Wi-Fi signal

Our Mk1.7 electronics come with a usb hub however you would need the companion kit with our Mk2 electronics.

I bought the same dongle, i've installed autokit app on my redmi tab se. The autokit did not detect the dongle. I've tried in on my son xiaomi phone and it works. Do you have any suggestions about this? Thank you

The device you connect the usb too must have OTG support in order to connect.

Can you plug the Carlink USB dongle to any USB power source to make it work with the tablet?

You could get a USBA to USBC adapter and connect the CarLinkIt directly to the tablet. However, it will not charge the tablet! Even if you use a splitter the tablet can only do either charge or USB accessory. Unless you purchase our companion kit, which allows you to use the USB ports and at the same time charge your tablet :)

Could you not have bypassed this problem by adding another usb port to the device? Meaning you use a standard USB to eg USBc to plug the device into the tablet, then use the main connector to charge the device off a usb source on the car..

My phone keeps dropping the bluetooth connection with the carlinkit. It stays on the wi-fi, but every time I connect to the bluetooth it only stays on for about 5 seconds and then drops the connection again. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Yes…. I bought the Ottocast C5 Lite and have had nothing else but problems. My nightmare startet when i bought this. It disconnects from bluetooth all the time. 90% of the times i try to turn it on, it does nothing. I have to take it out of the mount and click ot back in, before it works. I have spend 3 weeks now with their support on e-mail and only get stupind answers and keep telling over and over again what is wrong. Have asked many times if i can get a new or my money back. But get no answer….. Their support is worthless..

@@compound00 You most likely purchase the CarLinkIt which is not for android devices? If your device has a carbon fiber look to it, than it's the incorrect one. No, the tablet doesn't need android auto to make it work. However, the tablet does need to support OTG (on the go) to make it work with the dongle

Hi, Great question! Open up the AutoKit app and head to the gear icon located on the top left of the screen (CarPlay must be disconnected). Scroll all the way down to "Advance Settings" Scroll down to located MIC then switch the MIC to the middle option which is phone. This way it will now use your phones MIC for calls. Your voice will now be heard as long as you have your phone near by! Cheers,
