One thing I did to get my brain going on darts math is to always count my score even when I'm just having a chuck. Also, take shortcuts, it's much easyer to substract 20 and add 3 than substract 17.
I chalk along at home to games and I’ve improved tenfold. Also on the counting side I agree that 93 is one of the shots you just learn by repetition as you just see it all the time, but sometimes I get confused if the player goes another way e.g 19,20 then T18. Then how I would count it is just 54+40 and just take the 1 off.
The first two games is something I been doing for years watching darts, trying to beat the scorer and the on screen scoreboard. Just got to work on the confidence now. I read somewhere that "Marking gets easier the further away you get from the dartboard"
I have spoken to you before regarding this situation and myself not turning up to tournaments because I’ll have to chalk at some point appreciate people including yourself saying you will help at events but it’s defo a massive put off local tournaments should invest in electronic score boards by now in my opinion, great video mate I’m sure it will help me improve for sure
The only way to be a good marker is to keep marking as many games as you can that's the only way you will learn! I personally enjoy marking games as it improves my maths skills more than any teacher in schools ever did
Having to play with a bad Chalker is awful. I know some find maths hard but as you have said its more memory based. I'm sure people know 141 is T20,T19, D12 they don't take 60 from 141 then work out what they want. Some people just say i cant chalk and cant be bothered to learn
TV marking is good practice but most people don't struggle with that kind of marking it's a problem for most when the people playing are of a lesser standard hitting random sections of the board treble this and double that
Exactly, I dont like marking on our league games but this season I've been doing it to get better but some players are erratic as you say. Last week I was sweating trying to keep up on the board as the guy was hitting random treble numbers all over the board. Its getting easier but I find it hardest when its two fast players as you dont wanna mess up their rythym
I'd recommend beginners going to competitions there's always games to mark. Losers don't usually want to mark and will happily pay money for someone else to do it. So it's a win win, you can get better at marking plus your getting paid for doing it. My stepson has come out sometimes with more money doing this than the winner of competition.
I naturally try beat the caller, out loud and obnoxiously.. glad now when i’m watching the darts I can tell my annoyed friends that i’m just playing a game! haha :)
