Good video, thanks for the presets, but in there the 4K settings don't exactly match the settings in your video. That's the only thing wich is still a bit unclear.

@@neilcollinsrecording Hi Neil, sorry for my very late answer, I'm not so oft on RU-vid. I don't know exactly what was unclear. But after your video I checked out 4K-settings myself, and came to these personal bitrate settings for 50 fps-footage: acceptable results are 60 for target bitrate and 75 for max bitrate. And for max results resp. 80 and 95. Maybe this was helpful for you :)

Hi bro ,, like and subscribe to you very good information thanks and greeting from Iraq ,,, I have 2 questions I make videos with gopor10 5k,,, in exporting keep the dimensions ( 53..x2...) or change it to (1920x1080) to upload to you tube. second what is the different between hardware encoding and soft ware encoding and if my computer not have hard ware encoding how to get it please thanks in advance
@neilcollinsrecording
@neilcollinsrecording 2 года назад
I don’t think RU-vid hosts 5K video atm so you are better off downscaling it to a 4K 3840 x 2160. Then you can decide weather to export in 4K or 1080P. Hardware encoding is where it uses your PC or Mac to speed up the export but it all depends on your graphics card. If the option isn’t there then it probably means you’ll need to stick to software encoding which is still perfectly fine 👍🏻

Thanks! Additional question: someone on YT (can't remember who) did a video with settings for normalizing loudness on the export for RU-vid, citing a lot of research he did on the settings that would keep RU-vid from mucking about with the sound files. With all the changes to Premiere Pro 2022, is that loudness normalization step even needed anymore? Was it needed in the first place? Also, I noticed last night that on VBR 2 pass, I was unable to change the settings to different #'s. If I changed one to 15, the other changed to 15 and vice versa. Is that a glitch in the new update? Or is there a setting I wasn't realizing that was forcing the Max and Min to be the same numbers?

I remember watching that video, I can't remember who it was but I do remember thinking 'would a load of drivel!' If RU-vid is messing around with the audio you'd have to have the best hearing in the world to notice any difference and it certainly doesn't prioritise videos based on their audio levels. Just keep your audio around -6dB / -3dB and you'll be good to go. I never normalise my audio, I don't mind the levels going up and down a little bit, keeps the audio sounding natural 👍

@@neilcollinsrecording I really appreciate that! As a writer/director turned content creator, I'm suddenly behind the editing desk, and doing what FAR better people than myself have spent years perfecting their skills. So I tried to amass a set of "lists" that would give me a good quality export for RU-vid. I'm going to check your channel, but do you have a video that explains audio settings when layering a timeline and then exporting - i.e., if individual dialogue tracks are set somewhere between -3 and -6, SFX are a bit less, and Orchestrations in the -12-ish or so area. Do you then mix all of that down to a master output that is also -6/-3? And is that layering cumulative? i.e. a dialogue track at -3 going to a master also set for -3, then is your dialogue now at a -6? I've had a few situations where I've sent dialogue to a bus track that I kept -6/-3 and then out to a master that is also a -6/-3 and I find that I have to bump my speakers to max to even hear things. But if I raise things up too much on the original tracks, they go into the yellow/red. And I've always heard you never mix to 0. So I'm curious the best way to get that sweet spot that gives a final export in that -6/-3 range when setting the individual clips in a dialogue driven project.

No hardware encoder has ever supported 2-pass VBR at all whatsoever. And selecting 2-pass VBR will ALWAYS force software-only encoding no matter what.

@@neilcollinsrecording I still don't know what you're talking about. If you watch your video, you'll see jump cuts throughout. This is something that's never taught, accepted, or seen on any broadcast network, feature film, or documentary anywhere but RU-vid. It tells me, either people don't know how to use transitions, they're too lazy to make it easy to watch, or they are so inexperienced, they think it is the normal way to cut any video for public consumption. As an ACE Editor of 32 years, it's sad when someone creates a well thought-out instructional video, and insists on releasing it, unfinished. Jump cuts, or hard cuts from the same scene to the same scene causing a jarring cut is not proper finishing. It's fine for rough cuts, junior editors, or content cuts. Not a "so- called" finished piece to be uploaded and called "done". Show me anything in broadcast, or film, that has jump cuts. There are none. Someone, somewhere on RU-vid thought it was acceptable, it's not. And, never will be. That's why there is an entire class dedicated to transitions and effects that I teach, and how to properly use and not use them. Hard cuts from one segment of a piece of video to another in the same piece, without changing focal length, position on screen, color effect, or a dip to color or dissolve tells me it's a rough cut. Reach for perfection in anything you post. You have no idea who will see it, and this type of release just reinforces the wrong message, that this is how to edit. Please stop spreading the amateur virus of jump cuts and take the time to polish what you created. On the microphone: that microphone is specifically designed with an oval pattern surrounding wind screen in a downward position. Hence the words "side address". This means that mic is designed to hang vertically downward, while you speak into the correct side of the piece. Not into the tip of the mic, like a karaoke microphone. It's either condenser or cardioid microphone and may even have a simulated ribbon within it. It's another example to viewers of incorrect usage. I know it's painful that user manuals are not audio books or videos, but if you plan to offer education, please be familiar with the equipment you are using to deliver your message.

@@thomashemler165 firstly thanks for taking the time to leave such a concise response, that’s way more helpful for anyone else reading. I get what you are saying with regards to jump cuts but RU-vid isn’t like other forms of broadcast and I certainly wouldn’t use jump cuts in any other Productions infact I rarely use transitions at all in my music videos & wedding films. Often people watch RU-vid videos without sound so you need something to keep the viewers interest and this is a tried and tested practice in the RU-vid community. You may well disagree and that’s fine and you also have the right to hate it, that’s also fine. Not all broadcast mediums are the same and you are correct you’d never see these jump cuts in Hollywood film etc but this is a different medium entirely, making RU-vid videos engaging is an art form in itself we are all still learning. With regards to the mic I specifically use that mic so my face is viseable, I like it because it’s fairly unobtrusive. I’m well aware of the polar patterns, I’m an audio engineer for a 12 piece funk band, so I do know what I’m doing in terms of audio, this mic used this way gives me decent audio and viseably works for me. Like I said I appreciate you taking the time, it helps others understand who perhaps are thinking the same 👍🏻
