Not Kali specifically, but a reference to the tongue-in-cheek campaign on violence against women: how patriarchal India on the one hand prides itself of cultural values, worshipping goddesses in temples, but on the other hand commit atrocities on women. The lady with the blue face symbolises the goddess, and the others without blue make-up represent your everyday woman who is to the image of the goddess you worship, but who you demean. Kali isn't protecting, she's angry.

My godmother is South Indian. She told me a story about her childhood when she first came to South Africa. She was 14 years old and was giving an offering at one of the very few Hindu temples in the area. She doesn't know if she was followed to the temple or if this group of young men were around and took their opportunity to harass a young girl alone. They attempted to assault her on the temple grounds but they saw something that terrified them so much they stopped and ran for their lives. My godmother said she knew immediately that Kali was there and she appeared to these guys in her most ferocious form. She is sure of it. My godmother is the most honest and straight talking person I know. I believe her. She told me Kali is a protection deity and she is terrifying to anyone who harms innocent people.

FYI, bloodywood got fucked over with their physical sales. The physical album won't ship til April so only digital downloads (bandcamp/utunes/amazon) are going to contribute to their first week sales. They talk about it in their latest live stream, which is still up on their channel

@@BowsersreactionPit FYI, digital downloads will help them get to the billboard charts 200, they were already listed but a small technical glitch screwed up making them fall short of 2000 sales which arent counting towards the billboards charts :/

@@Bruno-lz5pf Yes, I am definitely a fangirl. 😁 I can't wrap my head around how densely populated New Delhi really is. It's hard for me to imagine. I mean, you have about 30 million people living within around 43 km², whereas I am from Southern California - a population of around 24 million, but living within approximately 145,000 km². That's a BIG difference! LOL Some day, I will travel to India. I've always wanted to see it, or at least parts of it. It's so big it would be difficult to visit every part. That's how it is here in the US, too. My country is also very large.
