Great video with valuable information, but as an artist I find galleries extremely important when selling my works. I don't have a problem with marketing my portfolio online and even closing a sales deal is fine by me, but the problem is that I don't have a clue how to deal with the sales tax when the buyer is from another country, how the VAT works in EU, do different states have different sales taxes, how about the customs when shipping to Asia, do I have to register as a taxpayer in the country where I'm selling to etc. Almost feels like I need a degree in law to understand all that, but since my gallery takes care of the legal side, I can focus on making art and building my following online. But if you know an online platform that also takes care of the paperwork globally I would be more than happy to check them out! :) Just found your channel, great videos!
Hi there! Yes it is very complicated. I work as registered freelance in Europe, which is pretty much like a company. It's a headache to do taxes. Just to get better understanding, I went to business school.. After that I still feel that I need a law degree. Tomorrow I am going to meet a team of lawyers, and get some answers! I make daily video, please feel free to suggest topics and ask more detailed questions!
the reason id want to work with a (london based) gallery is because i live in a student city where no one can afford anything and the local galleries are very tacky
Hi 👋 I live in one of the European member states with the worst financial crisis, so I totally get you. If you can make it work, it’s cool. If where you live have good tax rates, it’s even better! You can get the best of both worlds.
@@VeryPrivateGallery could you expand on the tax rates thing? im a quasi student (recently graduated) and don't understand things like this lol. i thought tax rates where consistent across the whole country rather than changing city to city
How will my SEO be able to compete with all the online galleries and art stores? They pay for ad space and to get the higher rankings. I googled my key words and I get Perigold, Etsy, Trend Gallery, Sachi Art, Minted, etc and not one artist’s website. Am I missing something? PS love your videos PSS Will you make a video on using Pinterest to market your art? (Not sure if you have already)
