Where are you Janis....?? We need you back here on earth.....your feelings, power and love is much needed......where is all the soul you had,,,,,Janis....we miss you !!!
When some other artists sing, sometimes you can hear their soul in their singing. When Janis sings, you can literally FEEL her soul and her pain. She is Janis. None better, ever! My Forever Queen!
I absolutely adore Janis Joplin. "Turtle Blues" & "Little Girl Blue" are my anthems. There was one other female singer whose SOUL you could always FEEL & her pain was so excruciating to hear I seriously can't listen to her songs... it is Billie Holiday.
One of the greatest entertainers of all time. She wore her heart and soul on her sleeve with every song she sang. I cry every time I see her or hear her.
I have heard that at a certain performance (it may have been the Monterey Pop Festival of '67) the crowd kept calling for Janis to encore. After two or three times coming back out she finally said something like "Honey, I love every one of you but I just don't have anything else to give." She had exhausted herself. Love you Janis. 😥
You can tell how hurt and heartbroken and even anxious she is here, wringing her hands and twisting the mic, looking around like she has ptsd from heartbreak. :(
I agree. Her alcohol intake at this time was so heavy. She looks terrible compared to how she looked on the same show the year before. PTSD from all of her harrowing binges is what I see
Janis I love your soul but I can slightly detect the pain and heartache of allowing booze and heroin take control over your life. You're One of the greats from my generation and a fellow Texan. May you rest in peace my sweet lady. Definitely a Pearl in the rough with so much talent. Thank you for making the music from my generation the best.
looks like a EV 635a interviewers microphone..only 150 ohms but sing loud into it its still distortion free...any way, heart and soul queen ... stay young forever
It's been more than fifty years and I still haven't seen anyone who can do this. But Janis, you look like you're teetering on the brink, and I guess you were; it would only be a few months.
+Ten Anthonys We have these accepted norms in music these days that won't allow any artistry. But, sure enough, there will be endless technically competent cream-puffs who will take a crack at something far above their average abilities. Janis was a soul mama. You can't copy that.
No human has ever sung with as much passion as JJ. Perhaps Elvis came close in his early years, but no one else. She sounds desperate here. Obviously leaving Big Brother is starting to show. Pearl is just that:An album of desperation trying to win back the fans. This full suck boogie band just can't cut it and they really look silly.
My advice to young female singers is not to sing or be like Janis Joplin.Look how she ended up.She was just a pale comparison to real soulful singers like Etta James or Tina Turner. If Janis Joplin had of lasted as long as these ladies had she would have become an embarrassment. She just didn't have staying power.R.I.P. Janis,You did the best you could with what you had. You're lucky everyone was so stoned at the time that nobody could tell.
Oscar Harvey You have got to be kidding. She is the best white female blues singer of all time. Her voice and music had a lot of staying power. It was the drugs that did her in
Oscar Harvey what the fuck are you talking about? Etta James was a fucking crackhead even though she lasted longer. She was a far worse addict. Uppers just don't kill as quickly, shithead. Why the fuck are you watching this if you don't love Janis. Eat shit.
