The documentary and its hours of episodes and bonus footage contain material from roughly 80 interviews of interactive fiction developers, designers, and players.
The director uploaded the iso files of the 2 DVDs to archive.org. I downloaded them, ripped a lossless copy, and uploaded the first one, since it isn't on RU-vid for some reason. The second DVD, the Infocom Documentary, is available here on RU-vid in Scott's own channel ‪@jasonscott526‬

As a kid, I loved playing text adventure games on the 8-bit computers of the 80's. These games allowed for a lot more creativity back then due to the crude nature of video game graphics at the time. We had Apple II (and classic Mac) computers at school and I had friends with Commodore 64 and Atari 8-Bit computers, so I was fortunate to play a lot of these classics on different machines.

Same here! Also, I think like listening to music on cassette, having to work through these types of games helped teach patience!

Great documentary! Saw it years ago with the BBS documentary (also great timecapsule). Really intellectually stimulating about the nature of games and their potential and comfortingly nostalgic.

Text never becomes obsolete! We still read books and news, and write to each other, and text adventures can still be relevant. I'm curious how the new generation of ai systems will not only open expanded possibilities for new games in this genre (e.g., fully-natural language parsers, multiplayer role playing games similar to MUDs or MOOs but with players role playing in a specific story, NPCs with unique personalities / background / depth, or allowing players to try things or choose actions that the creator may not have originally thought of) but also allow people to create their own games just by telling a story and describing situations / characters / etc. in English, and the computer will take all of that and create a world for it and a specific game that is instantly playable. The possibilities are exciting...

Chris Crawford at 1:02:28 is a trip! He comes across as the Steve Albini (RIP) of interactive fiction. All the interviews are interesting, I am finding it immensely inspiring.

ty for the iso links. I crowdfunded the film but my DVD is in storage. Started looking for something again since it appears one of Charles Shultz (Peanuts fame) offspring is IMDB'd on it.

So originally there were 2 dvds sold together, this is the first dvd, the Get Lamp Documentary. The second one is called the Infocom Documentary, and that one is available on RU-vid on the director's account.
