I've had a placement or two in my day and have been producing half of my life lol....I'm 32.... what I would suggest to kids is to rent out a studio or enter a best battle just to see where u actually stand... one of my mentors has platinum songs in his catalog and when he plays me shit it reminds me how good some of these industry producers are.... the older ones atleast lol.... be patient and continue to learn!!!!

Great video, great advices, and definitely on point. A lot of us already knows what you said here but we don't always apply. Because while learning and observing the other artists in the industry, from time to time you notice a few kids who achieve in 2 years with no efforts what you haven't made in 20 of hard work. It contributes to the global frustration and the feeling that music industry is unfair and sometimes makes us lose our focus .. I say "we" but i should say "I" actually :). Cheers man. Keep up the great work!

Great video, Adam! You're absolutely right about not needing a huge record label or needing a shoutout from a big artist to be successful. I feel you on this. Just curious what would be your thoughts on artists that make music for literally a year and suddenly blow up and have huge success. Not hating on nobody but Ik some cats that legit started making music a year before they blew up. I wanna believe it takes experience and talent and hard work to make it but it can be misleading with all the over night successes in the music industry. And just to add that totally agree with your advice. In modern times a lot of folk believe they have the right to be a celebrity, maybe because they can sing or have a certain look. This is total bollocks. What they forget is the artists back in the day worked tirelessly gig after gig. Even the Beatles worked every night singing covers. Doing five hour sets and even had to travel over to Germany to get their name out there. We have to make our own luck and work as hard if not harder than the next guy. And most of all never give up. That’s what sets the big players apart. Some artists don’t make it until their fifties. Cheers again!! :)

I’m sorry to say this: If you are really serious, don’t rule out being sexual with people to get the deal. Unfortunately, even people who got deals without doing this first, often end up doing it at some point down the road because it just comes up after a party / when people get high etc. Many deals are made out of hours. I don’t agree with this stuff! I’m just saying it can be part of it. Just be sure about what you want what you’re willing to give up. All the best.

Hey Adam, please don’t sell yourself short in terms of your video length despite the analytics (even though I totally get the idea of refining an effective message for videolog content). FYI, I’ve never skipped a video of yours based on seeing the length before viewing. And I venture to say that we can truly see that you’ve thought a lot about your message and that we are getting your perspective, in your voice. If it takes a few different ways to describe a given point, then I’d look at those as being opportunities for someone to connect. One way may click for me and another may make sense to that person, and so on... On a side note, any ideas on a “year in review” type of video as were getting closer to wrapping 2018? Take care and thanks a bunch for your channel!

Nevermind if you're 16 or 60. Always treat your fellow musicians and producers with respect and dignity, no matter the genre, no matter the level of skill. You'd rather be remembered as a decent, humble yet professional guy.

Awesome video..I say the same thing all the time. I’m 23 years in the game...paid my dues paying to record in pro studios for years when I started till I learned enough to build my own studio and now all these years later my quality is way better than what I used to pay for. These days they don’t wanna pay to record and I try to tell then they are paying for over 20 years experience..these days they think they can buy a laptop and drop and album...no matter what..it won’t sound like what a professional can do

Hey Adam! I like short format more. Good comparison 'what I need to do to become a lawyer vs musician'. Doesn't matter what you want to accomplish it takes time and you gotta be patient! But becoming a successful musician is not what they teach in schools! I have off top question: what would advise to become a better speaker? Do you (or used to) read a lot of books? Or maybe another secret? Thanks man!
