Do you have a video on tools a DIYer could get to do porting? Or maybe just a list of recommended tools. Like a particular Dremel and bits to get. Links to buy the tools would be really helpful.
At what point in the adjustment of the high and low needles should you go up or down a jet size? Basically, what is the optimal adjustment range of the needles?
2 turns out, new jet. Ideally you want the needles 1 turn out, giving you easily half turn in or out for adjustment. Main jets are now super cheap from ebay/amazon in kits, so its no longer a pain or expense to keep a handful for testing/tuning. Normally I jump by 5's for jets till im close, then if I really need more tuning I go from there. Low can be toyed with using pop-off too but usually a jet change is needed. Your low screw is an idle adjustment, but yes you can use the low to tune a little, but really past idle you need to tune either with pop off or low speed jet.
thanks for the vid! just grabbed an older 88' 650 with tiny stock carb i believe is 28mm is too small to bore? he gave me an aftermarket manifold with a bn44 I just haven't heard good things about the round body. I have an extra 550 mani with 38mm keihen, will that fit the 650 motor or i should prob just grab an sbn44?
