Originally written in October of 2000, "Get Over It" was recorded in early February of 2001. The home studio recordings were intended to be the first "real" demo album to be used to illustrate my song writing skills in hopes of eventually securing publishing deals for the certain songs.
Months later, in September, this song took on new meaning with the attacks carried out on 9/11. I couldn't believe the album title I selected in 2000 was "Requiem for the Lost" and it featured songs titles such as: the title track, "Rumble in the Distance", and "Big Dusty Cloud". The fact that this song specifically speaks to terrorism, left me feeling like there had to have been a ripple in time-space that creative types tapped into, as I am not the only person to have this occur.
Move forward in years... 4 years to be exact, the original drive that contained those individual DAW tracks bit the dust, followed directly by a second drive I had been using as a backup. In between that time, I had improved my vocal and instrument command and skill. So much so that I had stopped allowing the general public to hear these tracks. In particular, the vocal had some serious cringe moments that I was stuck with.... until recently.
I will be posting videos about how I use AI for both business and creative workflows, but specifically, it was discovering LALAL.AI that made it possible to resurrect these tracks. This tool allowed me to separate the track into specific "stems", like vocals, guitar, drums or in this case, with this song, separating the vocals from the rest of the mix. I was able to fix the cringy parts, maintain the rest, and improve the mix, prior to remastering it.
