This would be stunning in a icy blue and white/pale gray combo for a more winter-like feeling! Individually these would be beautiful holiday decorations. A pink and white would make for a very nice decorative element for a baby girl's room too. So many possibilities! Great job! You're such an inspiration! ❤❤❤
I wanted to mention that “sharp” darning/tapestry needles exist, the ones I found on amazon work on size 3 yarn or below, and they REVOLUTIONIZED weaving in ends for me. Sooooo much easier and it even feels more secure!
I’ve been using chenille needles; they’re pointy and have quite a big eye. I struggle with some thicker yarns though so thank you so much for your recommendation 🧶❤️🐾
@Hippiechick11 I am just recovering from a real bad flare, couldn't walk for almost a week, had to have my nurses get me in out of my wheelchair. But I'm doing a lot better now.
You know how that crotchet cotton is so stiff. Does it get soft when you wash it? I havent used it because its so stiff i thought you could only make doilies with it.
It does get softer! It can even become very soft, eventually, if you machine wash (on delicate) often. It will always be a bit heavier and have less drape than acrylic, but the longevity and stitch definition of cotton thread is superior in my opinion. I have some vintage pieces (I even have crochet-edged handkerchiefs that have been washed at least hundreds of times) and only cotton seems to survive. They still look incredible! Also, mercerized cotton #10 thread can be used for lacy table clothes and curtains/valences, if you don’t like the feel of the finished product.
@@vysharra thanks so much. I have my grand mother's and great grandmothers crotchet and irish lace they made. It has declined in beauty as it goes down the generations. Ie my great grandmothers stuff is amazing my grandmothers impressive my moms lovely and mine a bit of a mess I even have some of my grandmothers fine cotton thread ..not sure what the guage is. Some of my grandmothers less fine coats which I think is mercerized cotton ..Two boxes brand new of blue thread and I bought some larger synthetic to learn on myself. I think its 10guage and my grannies coats is 20 or vice versa and then there's two grades of croon one quite fine and one so fine it needs a .50 needle which is so tiny... the box of lace scraps is one of my favourite heirlooms. I also have an Edward ian dress my great grandmother was making in bright green mulberry silk with blackface. Probably 1910s 0r 20s for an older fashion. Anyway thank you I will try the heavier cotton at least.
Hunter/emerald green is my favorite color ever. I am picturing this with that sort of deep but vibrant green and an ecru, and my heart is going pitter-patter...
Gorgeous project. Interesting that they are calling for acrylic. I used a lot of crochet thread in the 70’s-90’s and don’t remember ever seeing acrylic. What I have from older relatives are cotton also.
Loved watching you make this design. Well..I have binged watched your videos. Will be going to your store to buy some pattetns. Thank you so much for your dedication. Subscribed to your other channel to have a wee look also.❤
Super pretty, C.! I love how you are able to take the most complicated patterns and make them approachable by just taking the stitches in little bite-sized chunks. So well explained and demonstrated. You're wonderful at that! Thank you for everything you do! Hugs, always! (Hoping James is doing better, I've kept you all in my prayers.)
That is so pretty !! Very detailed for sure , it makes a pretty doiley too , a wearable wud be so pretty as well many things !! Thank You so much for this !! Awesome video 📸 !!
Wow! People had a lot of patience back then! I’ve made doily’s before, but this is doily’s on Steroids! 😄 Have to try this, even as you said just one square! Thank you! ❤️😇🙏
In round seven, you worked a cluster of 4 then 2 sets in next 4 then another cluster of 4. You omitted the picot stitch during the round until the end of the round and then finished with the picot stitch. I undid the row and added the picot in the round. I can see how this would confuse people. Only one other comment mentioned this.
So the skill level in this is: do not attempt if you are a beginner or unless you really like crying 😭😭 in frustration. Good to know. I won't be attempting this one. I have been on too long of a hiatus from my 1865 shawl. I am a beginner. Just started crocheting this summer.
This is beautiful and I've just recently started reading patterns but I'm not that fluent in reading them yet depending on the difficulty level. 😢. I can follow along no problem when it comes to videos though and can do so even without sound (when in another language) as I'm accustomed to the difference stitches. Where I get confused is when doing the 2 or 3 together and, how and where to connect the motifs. I wish you could have completed the second motif and then show how they were connected for those of us who have ADHD and do better with visuals rather than reading of patterns. Love you and your channel though!😊
I am so glad you're doing this pattern because I remember my aunt making this pattern, now she made a long dress with a long tail oh my goodness it was so beautiful, her colors were dark pink light pick, she did crochet some little very little flowers around the waist it looked like a belt that hook the tail on, she was married in that dress as well, I just had to share with you, thank you again so much 😊😊😊
I can do all the stitches but can't read a pattern without throwing it across the room and giving up. I already saw a discrepancy in the instructions and what you finished
Wait, what do you mean pico at the end of the second round of the white (round 6)? I thought the repeat is a cluster then in the in next 4 was 2 treble in each and then another cluster
I have finally completed this pattern. It's the first crochet piece I've tried with thread. I love it but I will definitely NOT be making enough of these for anything. I really don't see how you crochet so well with thread. I already thought you were fabulous but now I have an even greater appreciation for all your work. THX🫶
