On my bleached (level 9-10) hair, I use equal portions No Orange Mask and No Yellow Shampoo mixed, applied to wet hair in the shower and left on for 5 minutes. The idea came from one of Fanola's strand test videos with James Miju, and it results in a nice icy platinum with no purple or blue streaks. I am using it as a way to transition to my white roots.
Wow, thanks I had previously only tried purple shampoo which made little difference to my hair. Saw your video and thought I would try it, have just used the blue shampoo and this has made a real difference , my hair looks so much better. Thank you
Great video. Your method took all the brassiness out of my hair. I went from not liking how my hair originally turned out when I first dyed it to now loving it. Thank you ❤
Just wanted to say a quick thank you for such a succuncit and concise video. You covered every question I had in mind and threw in a few extra tips I never would've thought of, so thank you so so much! Don't stop doing what you're you're doing, it a vital public service! Be safe and well (especially in these times).
It definitely works better on dry hair! I’ve been using it in the shower for months. Last night I tried rubbing it into my dry hair. I only used a small amount of amount of water to help saturate it. I let it sit for about a half hour then washed my hair as usual. Now I FINALLY have the results I’ve been wanting.
You should use the fanola no-orange mask for leaving in rather than the shampoo. It's like a conditioner so it doesn't dry your hair and you only need to leave it in for about 5 minutes.
Overtone conditioners work great, and they won't damage hair. They have a blue conditioner that you can use just the like the fanola, either on dry hair or wet hair. On dry, it's much more intense. A lot of people use the overtone as regular conditioner, and some people on dry weekly. I have used it and it's great.
Hi! I love your videos :) I actually just bought the fanola no orange to help the brassy/orange tones that have come into my hair after my recent highlights. But I only left it on for 5 minutes per the instructions and of course I didn't see a difference :/ I applied it on dry hair too. Do you think that if I did it again in a day or two I can leave it on for 30+ minutes?
I like the Oligo brand "Blacklight" blue shampoo .It has argan oil and 11 amino acids in it, also sulfate , salt and paraben free. It is for highlighted, bleached and natural blonde hair and eliminates brassiness and refreshes faded highlights. It can be messy though so you can wear gloves in the shower .
Thanks for this video🙏😅 please let me know whether i should use my ordinary shampoo before useing this one . I understand that fenola shampoo does not clean the hair only remove the orange shades. Pleaase need your help. Thanks. My hair is dry and thick. Mediume gold blond
Hi, i have naturaly medium/light brown hair, bleached it, turned out chicken yellow and some orange. Then i used a toner, and then a demi permanent on it, and now it is kind of a dirty yellow with some shine to it, and different lights in it. Do you think i should use a clarifying shampoo first??! Orr what to do please 😁
I haven't tried it dry bc i was afraid if hair turns blue, I'm stuck for a few washes. I'll yry it that way thanks. I know when I was young my hair stayed pale blond. Now in 2-3 wks its your b4 color. wonder if its the color or our horrible water? Back then there was no toning shampoo/conditioner either.
Yes you can add organic food color to your regular shampoo ! Just use it in moderation cus food color is intense test a strand from the back of your hair first
I can’t wait to try this:) I’m a natural blonde but my hair is turning more reddish/strawberry blonde. I think it might have to do with the iron in my water! Definitely going to try this out
on the bottle it says to only leave the toning shampoo on for 1-2 mins? is it safe and more effective to put it on for like periods of time like 20 mins?
My hair is thick and curly....my orange is only on parts of my blonde...but curly hair is dry any way. Could I do this and then after I wash it...put coconut oil in for a hour and wash it out
Any (okay, most) shampoo or conditioner can be made into a tinted shampoo or conditioner by adding some manic panic and mixing well. However I found manic panic does not mix well with coconut oil.
I love it too and I am a brunette. It even neutralizes red. I just wish they would make a green shampoo. That would make my brassy hair more beige without any blue/violet undertones.
Omg, I totally agree with the Green! That's a great idea! One time when I was younger I went from blonde to brunette and used an ashy brown vs a neutral brown and my hair turned GREEN! I went to the salon and the hairdresser put a reddish-brown in my hair to neutralize it and it ended up being the most perfect brown.
My hair is like that similar color my real hair color is dark blonde very light brown I just I got some dark roots are used sun ☀️ in I don’t like to use a lot of hair color thank you just want to see your Health get a response I will get
People have different levels of porosity. Also its not supposed to be used on very light hair as it could go green (obviously). The hair needs to be bleached for it to stick well (its physics, so no chemical process happening)
Mikayla Serr yeah you can use it in the shower or when your hair is dry. I only prefer to do it when it’s dry because I feel like it tones it better. Usually when I do it in the shower I feel like I have to do it twice to get my desired result
I don't think it is necessary. You will get a similar result with the shampoo. I've used both and I think just going in with the shampoo will work for you. I've asked a lot of hair stylists and they have said the same thing. The only thing I like about the conditioner is that it is lightly tinted blue so I feel like it seals the deal lol but I do not think it is 100% needed.
Is it best to use this on clean washed hair or how do you use this? Cause I have to wash my hair again (there is no styling product in it) but does this clean your hair too if you put it on and then rinse it off? Do you massage this in your hair like you would actually use a shampoo when you are going to rinse it out in the shower?
Fanola no orange says it gets rid of unwanted orange and copper tones so I think it'd probably work for reddish hair. The no orange would work better for red tones than their no yellow shampoo
They have it on amazon and Walmart! I usually get it from Walmart but it’s all sold out, here is the link to amazon: Fanola No Orange Shampoo, 350 Milliliter www.amazon.com/dp/B071WWK11X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_bRM0EbSSBE1XV
Yes, because you basically just lay pigments on pourus hair to create a new tone. After some washes it will fall out again, and the 'original' tone will show again.
I put it on damp and left it on for 20 minutes. It really dried and damaged my hair. It barely changed the color. Now my hair is breaking off. Be careful.
hi great review i’m a little late tho. i just bought it and i think i’m gonna apply to wet hair the first time. do i have to apply normal shampoo at all before or after?
I'm wondering after you do it once or twice - does it stay or do you have to keep doing it to maintain it? Does it get the red and orange tones away for good??!! Great video btw!!
Use it only when you see the orange/yellow returning- maybe once a week. It’s very drying on hair, so don’t use unless necessary, & use a good, deep conditioner afterwards.
I’m a guy with dark brown hair and I tried to use sun-in and it made my hair a lighter brown but super brassy. I just got the RedKen Blue Shampoo on Amazon. Will that help tone out the brassiness?
Yes it should definitely help!! Blue cancels out any orangey brassy tones. I've used sun in in the past too haha! You may have to use it more than once but I recommend doing it 3 days apart because it could be a little drying.
@@LHS281 Actually I just remembered too my boyfriend used Sun in when we went to Mexico and his hair turned orangey blonde and he used the blue shampoo and it helped sooo much..he used it when his hair was dry and he left it in for about 15-20 mins and then washed it out
I've been using it for years! I actually found them on the Explore page on Instagram because of a bunch of before and afters. I used to only be able to get them from Italy and the shipping was sooo much but now they offer it in Amazon and Walmart which is where I buy it from.
Hello! I have highlights and would like to get rid of the yellow tone and get a more ashy one, which toning shampoo would you recommend? And can I apply the shampoo to the whole head, although I have highlights?
I put in highlights every 3-6 months with bleach (I literally just use box dye lol) and then I let my hair grow out I like the one from Revlon it is called the frost & glow. And I use the one for brunettes. I get it from any drugstore I put a link to it so you can see what the box looks like. www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/revlon-reg-color-effects-trade-frost-amp-glow-hair-highlighting-kit/5501341?skuId=20284077&enginename=google&mcid=PS_googlepla_nonbrand_beautywellness_local&product_id=20284077&adtype=pla&product_channel=local&adpos=&creative=232742510539&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&targetid=92700034063863184&gclid=Cj0KCQjwudb3BRC9ARIsAEa-vUsb0pJsDCL-zyGhx9XP2Rf0fZSK9swrcJhrcAeqS-AbHovAqB23VO8aAmKyEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
@@beautybydreav7552 Hi, I have a question? Most hair dressers wont put the cap on to highlight my hair, cause they say my hair is to long. Did you use the cap to do the highlights?
Hmm I guess it depends on your hair. I've used both the no yellow and no orange and the no orange works good for me at this stage but when my hair is lighter I prefer the no yellow
Why is brassy hair such a negative thing? I only like warm tones in my hair but I find that I have to use words like gold honey or caramel when I go to my hair stylist cuz if I say I want brassy hair she looks at me weird because they are taught to avoid that. The way your hair is at the beginning of the video is how I prefer my hair to look and I think it looks more pleasing, imo. Why is it so bad? What if you like brassy?
@@helenarichard my boyfriend says the same thing he goes 'is that safe' lol but it's fine for me I have pretty thick hair but I wouldn't recommend this to someone with thin hair or very light blonde.
@@Orchidroot Yeah I would use it in the shower and do only 5-10 minutes and start doing only it once a week. I say this because it can be a bit drying. I do like this brand though out of the other brands that I've tried this one is a lot less drying.
Fanola Shampoo is not drying, at all. Blue shampoo tones orange or brassy hair, purple tones yellow. Your ends take more because they are dry and porous, time for a trim! After using using blue or purple shampoo seal with a LIGHT oil (argon or my fav mega spritz heat protection).
So far this shampoo has done literally nothing to my hair. I’ve used it wet and dry and still brassy AF. I’m trying it one last time and leaving in for 20 minutes to see if I get the same results as you!
@@BonanzaJB thats dissapointing!! I loved my highlights i got done last week, blonde and cool ash toner. Walked out of the salon so happy! 2 washes later and the cool tones have faded 😭 i tried purple shampoo and hoping this blue works for me 🙏
