You guys should do more videos and product endorsements you both sound so professional and so believable and I mean that in the best sense!

I have been battling Phorid flies here on the west coast of Central Florida for the last two years. Apparently, they released millions of them here to control the Fire Ant problem in the late 90's. I have been told that my county has stopped treating the sewer treatment plants for Phorid Flies. My local pest control store loves this as he is the closest BioDrain dealer. Literally, pouring money down the drain.

It is a problem on the rise and there is no easy answer. You have to be vigilant because it is not easy to play "catch-up" with phorid flies.

Hey I have been facing the same issue in the same area. If you don't mind me asking, where were you able to find the BioDrain in stores? I will order online if necessary but I kind of want to get the issue resolved asap.

Just watched your video and ordered 4 gallons from your store. Thanks for the info, and hope it resolves my issue with these pesky little buggers.

You guys are awesome! I thought I had fruitflies but noticed they were around the sink and at our water cooler and my regular fruit fly traps were not working. Thanks for the information - very helpful.

There is a gap between my bath shower and floor, and was filled long ago with caulking, although done lazily. We had ants that wandered there before hand and so some of them may have died beneath the caulking and left there carcasses. Is this a potential breeding site for drain flies? I can't seem to catch any coming out of my drains

Can this happen if a toilet overflows out onto the bathroom floor and then gets under the tiles? Like in a corner where some tiles are broke? Or does it need a constant flow of water like in drains?
@DoItYourselfPestControl

Shawna Murphy If the moisture seeped back under the tile it can take quite a while to dry. Drying the area out and sealing it should be all that you need to do.

You guys must work for Rockwell Labs. How about a way to treat this without searching out specific products that can be bought locally?
@DoItYourselfPestControl

+broderp Well we don't work for Rockwell Labs but we do like their products. There are other enzyme based drain products but they are a specialty item that you usually have to get in a commercial janitorial products supplier. You can remove the trap under the sink and scrub the drain pipe out from the trap up to the sink using a stiff brush and a mild bleach solution. That is more work but it eliminates the problem quickly.

My apt just got infested with drain flies, literally hundreds of them, after a sewer gas smell in the living room. They said they fixed the broken pipes for the gas leak but now my living room is basically home to these nasty little things! I used BioDrain in the bathtub drain for a couple days but they never go away! Im losing my mind!!

The adults should die in a matter of days. The key is to make sure that there is no breeding site available to them. Check all the spots we mention in the video to make sure they have no wet slimy material available in which to lay eggs.

ProPestProducts It seems they're coming from under the slab in the living room where the drain pipe lines are. I think this is way over my capability :/

what if the drain flies are at a kitchen sink with a garbage disposal??
@DoItYourselfPestControl

Good question Kathy. There is a product called Invade Hot Spot. Here is a link. store.doyourownpestcontrol.com/invade-hot-spot It is an aerosol foam that will fill up the garbage disposal. Use it in place of the gel and you'll get really good results.

I have been trying to help a friend, for a long time, with their drain fly issue. We can’t seem to win the battle. So far, I have: 1. Used BioDrain in all drains 2. Used Green Gobbler in all drains 3. I have NOT used a brush inside drain pipes 4. I covered all vents using window screen (mesh), and I see them trapped inside the vents They mainly show up in the basement. 2 - 4 each day. On the first floor, 1-2 each day. On the 2nd floor, maybe 1 per week I noticed a bunch of dead drain flies in the basement window sills. Where else should I be looking, for the breeding ground?

Be sure to check other potential breeding sites. The flies can lay eggs in any slimy buildup. Saucers under house plants, the catch pan under the refrigerator, and standing water in a crawlspace can all be trouble spots.

i have these little drain/sewer flys or moths what ever you want to call them. they are taking up residence in my turtle tank. i have a red eared slider and they nest in her filter. i have killed then dozens of times but they keep coming back. i have completely cleaned out the whole tank and the still come back. is there any natural chemical that will kill them without harming my turtle?
@DoItYourselfPestControl
@DoItYourselfPestControl 9 лет назад
LordDharok They have to have a slimy substance to lay eggs in. Finding a removing that is the key. It may be a very small amount of gunk on a tube or around the rim of a tank but that is all it takes. Give it all a "once over" and see what you can discover. Let me know what you find

I have a brand new home and I have them. Should be no organic matter in the drain. These little bastards suck.
