If you are reading this in 2023, DO NOT print with the included white filament…. That is a special brittle filament that is only for supports. If you print with it not only will the print fail spectacularly but you’ll become so frustrated that you’ll get drunk, knock over tables at Taco Bell, break your hand punching a tree and eventually in a drug-fueled rage expose yourself to a cop and sit in prison for 2 weeks because your kids won’t bail you out. Trust me. If you’re reading this in 2022 then yes, go ahead and load the white filament.
I got this in 2024 today, there was no glue included, it came with 3 filaments. Pla basic, support, and Pla cf black. Don’t know what I’m doing but the magnetic plate is the duel sided textured PEI plate
same, i got my printer a week ago and used this vide to set my printer up, couldnt of been more clear and made it a load easier for me as im totally new into the 3d printing world. love the printer tho!
Mine arrived in the country in 3 days but stuck in the customs for half month.. the tax fees was like $139.. I'm living in Thailand. Hope you don't need to go through that
Thanks, Jim! I finally got a chance to setup my Bambu today and after watching this video a few times I was super quick and easy. One thing you don't mention is whether you have to provide your own SD card. Mine didn't seem to have one included, so I had to add my own before it would update the firmware or record time lapses. Great video for all Bambu owners to check out before opening up their printers.
Outstanding video! I got my X1 Carbon Combo today and used your video to walk me through the steps. It made the process easy. The only glitch I had was getting my Bambu Handy App to connect to my printer on either my android phone or iPad. It finally did connect to my phone after repeated tries, what I did differently I don’t know. But hey, it works! Downloaded the Windows version of the slicer and printed a flying bridge in PLA using Windex as the release agent on my cool plate. It came out perfect! Thanks for taking the time to make the video.
@@TheEdgeofTech I'm sure I will. All I've printed so far is a 24 minute benchy - with about 6 minutes of that being warming, calibration, leveling, etc. Darned fast and a very high quality result.
Question. I just ordered my X1C with the AMS option. I plan on using different colored spools of PLA but I won't be getting them from Bambu Labs. My question is how do I tell the printer which color to print from if the AMS doesn't know what color is in which slot because the non Bambu filament won't have the chip in the filament spool(s) that identifies what type and color filament is in that particular spool slot. Can I assume there's something in the printer settings that allows you to pick and choose from which spool slot you want to print from?
Congratulations! I hope you love it! Yes, you will be able to choose from a list. So if it's random PLA you would just choose PLA and the color. There are other options to choose as well, but the short answer is yes!
I’ve had my X1 Carbon for 4 days. I waited until yesterday to unpack it and spent the previous days looking for unpacking and start up videos. There are quite a few but yours is the only one that actually took me step by step through the process. I was afraid to leave the foam under the bed, no one else mentioned it. I one went from unboxing through setting up the firmware. Thank you for this.
Great and now I just have to wait till September to get my X1 Carbon😃. PEI-buildplates are listed in their shop already and for very low price so far. IMO their default plates must have the big advantage that you don't have to heat them up for PETG and PLA. That's not just saving energy, but keep dimensions more accurate since parts tend to shrink after cooling, which is so f-ing annoying in FDM-printing.
Nice video Jim, very well explained. Will you make one (or more) of the machine in use? Some nice prints, maybe problems that come up during use? From what I have seen so far the machine is really nice.
Excellent vid! My X1C arrived today and this was helpful to run through getting it setup super quick! Btw, mine had 4 stickers for the 4 mounting screws where you only had three stickers. So either they fixed that or they just missed a sticker on yours haha. So stoked!! First 3D Printer! 🤙
I first came across your videos when I was a novice with my Ender 3 and yours were always the most helpful. You can imagine the smile on my face when years later I am getting this amazing printer and you pop up again. Its like reuniting with an old friend.
I was too fast to get the printer calibration on and didn´t remove the screws on the hotplate;) I was scared about the noise and so was my lady sleeping. Please follow these instructions;)))
I just bought the Bambu P1S combo. If I have a project that needs 5 colors, how can I do it? I noted that there is a spool in the back where I can put the fifth one, but how can I connect them? Thanks.
Despite all wonderful and positive reviews on youtube. This printer is fucking shit: the setup is not as easy as claimed by all reviewers: the QR code wich appears in the setup isn’t working. The actual one is hidden in the menu of the display. The AMS setup wasn’t working according to the manual or videos. And from bambulab you can expect absolutely no support. It’s probably just a letterbox company. I can’t even return the printer, because nobody responds. I bought it, because I’m a beginner and wanted an easy start, but the opposite is absolutely the truth. Therefore I strongly recommend not to buy this printer.
Thank you for being such a great help for me to assemble the printer successfully. About the glue, do I need to apply it every time I print or only the first time? Thanks
You should be able to put it on once and print a few times. You can always just put a thin coat over the area you printed on before the next Print, but not on the whole bed. But I would clean the plate with warm water and a tiny bit of dish soap. Then dry it good, every 10 prints.
Thanks a bunch for this excellent tutorial. it helped me a lot to overcome the scrappy, foggy setup manual made by bambulab. is there somewhere a written, decent manual? best regards from Germany
I just followed this to set up my new X1C! Thank you, as always, for giving clear and to-the-point instructions! I can't wait to print my first benchy on this!
Thanks for this video. Mine arrives Saturday and now in my excitement I wont break something or tear out a screw. Good job walking us through, loved the strait-forward let's get this done. Keep up the good work.
Any ideas on how to transport the x1 carbon around 100 miles by car? I was thinking of just putting it back into the box with the exterior foam only. Do you think that that would work?
Thank you I now have 3 of the carbon X1. I do have an issue with the AMS after a print finishes it will not retract the filament and stalls each time I have to remove the boden tube from the connector on the back and then hit retry. In doing this it pulls the filament back from the cut point in the extruder and then the AMS can retract and finish the print. Does anyone have an idea or fix for this?
I ordered the special handle you suggested to order from amazon and waited 4 days before it came to unbolt it and to my avail i had to use the ales tool that came with the printing. You are vwry evil and deceptive
I’m using 3DLac for my Prusa. Do you think that the 3DLack will do the same as the glue stick in terms of getting easier to remove the PLA from the bed?
Just pre-ordered one today. And subscribed to your channel to get helpful tips with this thing. It's my first fdm/carbon printer. I have two epax machines currently
I just ordered an x1 carbon. Can’t freaking wait. Never owned a 3d printer. This video is tits! Thanks man! It will be very helpful❤ love the channel. Subscribed!
A lot to type, but look towards the bottom of this page and it will tell you what the main differences are! And yes, you can upgrade the X1 to be an X1C! bambulab.com/en/x1
normally in cold beds (in other printers I use hairspray on pei) in this the glue stick that comes with it is different from any other glue stick? The store that sends it takes a long time to reach my country. I understand that it must be the same heavy glue sticks that were used in school or in the old printers?
I appreciate the effort put into the video. One problem for me was the setup in the Bambu Handy app wasn't quite the same as the video - probably because of the age of the video. I did need to go to other videos because the video never actually finished with the load of the first spool in the AMS. We just put it in about an inch. Not setup for printing yet. Will need to do some more research. Thank you for what you did provide.
Thanks, used this to setup my X1C, spot on mate. Been 3d printing with an Ender 2 v3 for a couple of years now, loved that despite the ground work it takes to make it print nice, quite amazed how this thing prints right out the box - only issue I had so far was the Bambu filament not auto detecting - had to input that manually, sure its something simple tho.
My question is: Why not just use a build plate like the one from the Flashforge Adventurer 4? (That is my current printer and I've never had an issue with the build plate. Flexible spring steel with a baked in coating for optimal adhesion and a magnetic build plate base in the printer.) Seems like that would be a no-brainer.
Hi great video, you mention at the end of the video you have more videos on next steps etc on Banbu Lab? Could you supply a link as can’t find this? Thank you and great video once again!!!
My X1 carbon will be here Wednesday! Do you know if my magnetic plate from the ender 3 s1 pro will work on this or no? I really like the texture of the stock s1 pro bed
Got mine today.. was saving up for months and was super thrilled to get it. There's a power issue with mine though. Submitted a ticket to hopefully resolve the issue, but I've tried so many troubleshooting steps already. Probably going to have to return and get a new one unfortunately :/
I am a little confused. Do I need to purchase the high temp plate separately? What is the "engineering plate"? is the engineering plate the main plate and cool/high temp depend on the adhesive sheet installed?
Just come across these videos. I love it!! Having the screws drop included in the video gives me a sense of relief that I’m not the only dummy that kept dropping them. Subscribed!!!!
Huge thanks from Tokyo for this excellent step-by-step and easy-to-follow setup tutorial. I'm looking forward to learning lots more from you as I move forward on my X1 C 3D printing journey!
Thank you for this video! I just unboxed my X1C and was so scared when it said to just grab the plastic bag to pull out a $1500 machine out of the box.
Wow... I have had my X1 for 2 months but schedules and fears kept me from getting it going. First at 10' nad 43" you talked about the desicant. I MISSED THAT. THANK YoU. Then parts after that so nicely detailed for us beginners. You are great.!!!
I just wanted to say. Thank you thank you thank you so much for this video. I was struggling with setting up my x1-carbon. This video helped me so much.
For those wondering like I did, you can skip the network setup and app download and keep the unit offline. There is an SD card slot in the right side of the display but it doesn't come with an SD card, have to buy that separately.
Very thorough, best out of a few setup videos I watched. Better than the manual that comes with it, completely skips the AMS setup. Thank you, made setup easy. I made sure to find a tutorial because when setting up my Ender 3 V2 the instructions were useless.
Just got my printer in, and I print mostly in ABS. What side of the build plate do you recommend and also would you put glue stick on the hot side too?
What seems to happen not infrequently is the ams fails to cut and retract. It seems to assume the filament was loaded during setup. How can we get the filament loaded like that first time?
Just used your video to setup my X1 Carbon. Very clear and covered everything. A lot of videos skip somethings which can make it confusing - not yours!
