Ingredients
Whole Turkey Pre Brined
Onion Powder
Garlic Powder
Oregano
4-5 Oranges
2 Medium Size Yellow Onions
1-2 Full Garlic Bulbs
Fresh Sage
2 Sticks of Butter
**I used Apple Wood Pellets**
Smoking Direction Set Smoker to 300 degrees
Place turkey in smoker and allow to smoke. When the internal temp reaches 132 degrees place 2 sticks of butter in bottom of pan. Continue to smoke turkey until it reaches 164 degrees. Loosely wrap in foil and let the turkey rest. The carry over heat will rise above 165 degrees the gently fall. Allow the resting time to redistribute the internal juices and not gush out and result in a dry turkey after cutting. Once rested for a min of 30 mins carve and enjoy!

Awesome gonna try it this year , bout how long for a 20lb turkey?
@CookingwithManualFocus

I would say 8+ hrs but could be less could be more depending on the elements.

How many hours did it take in the pitboss total? Looks great I want to try it.
@CookingwithManualFocus
@CookingwithManualFocus 10 месяцев назад
Thank you so much!! Definetly give it a try! This one took about 6 and half hours. I know times can be a point of reference I would shoot for temp because different elements will result in either delayed times or shorter times. Get the breast at about 165-167⁰ and you are in the game!

How long did it take at 300 degrees? Thanks for the upload. It looks delicious
@CookingwithManualFocus
@CookingwithManualFocus 10 месяцев назад
Thank you fam! This one took about 6 and half hours. I would really shoot for temp. Sometimes the elements can shorten or draw it out the cooking time. Hopefully that helps.

This one was a frozen turkey so it was prebrined.

Thank you so much!!! I normally use either pecan, apple, or a fruit blemd pitboss pellets. For briskets and beef i like hickory.

How long did you cook it? My first time cooking on the pit boss . Been smoking turkeys for years the old school way
@CookingwithManualFocus

This one took about 6 1/2 hours. Give or take how big your bird is and if you hit any stalls.
@tots66
@tots66 Год назад
I have done a couple of your recipes. On this turkey, your description said you had a prebrined turkey. Did you do that before you started cooking or where you bought your bird do that?
@CookingwithManualFocus
@CookingwithManualFocus Год назад
I bought that particular one already prebrined. Some stores sell them already brined, but if you have one that is not then 24hrs would be the ideal time to let it brine. Honeysuckle was the brand and I purchased it from Walmart. And thank you so much for trying my recipes!

So you have the Pit Boss set to 300F yet the wireless probe's ambient temperature never reaches 300F or even 200F.
@CookingwithManualFocus
@CookingwithManualFocus Год назад
The ambient temp isnt to measure actual temps. Its only used as a guide to tell you if your grill has something going wrong like a sudden drop in temp or high increase. For actual temps you need a probe at the grill grates to get an accurate grill temp.

We got weight and temp... not smoking length...🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
@CookingwithManualFocus
@CookingwithManualFocus 5 месяцев назад
This one took about 6hrs. Time to me is not as relevant as temp because your elements and some time stalls will dictate your time.Could be more or less it all depends.
