This week on Get the Fork Out we have Nina Wilson, also known as the The Crew Chef on her prolific You Tube channel, link below.
www.youtube.co...
Nina's channel covers all things yacht chef with a few other videos covering food and or travel around the world. I highly recommend Nina's channel!
Nina Wilson and I met over five years ago when she was a deckhand on a 85m Abeking. She's smart and funny and we hit it off straight away and have remained friends. Since then she's taken on a number of sous chef jobs on some really amazing charter boats which quickly led to her becoming a head chef on a 50m with a sous chef.
Definitely take a look at her channel on the RU-vid "TheCrewChef".

Interesting chat! 5 months with only two days off? That's insane! I don't think people realize how gruelling superyacht work is...Looking forward to Nina's next moves!

It's the summer that's the rough one. Usually the winter is more low key with time between trips. The summer is a grind.

Good for you, not eating whales! One has to draw the line somewhere. I live in Tasmania, and when I was young, I crossed the Atlantic twice on 40 ft sailing boats (in 1967 and 1969) I love food and cooking as well.

Why isn't there a set up to have slow cookers/Crocpots ? Besides putting the in the sink for safety

Loved the videos with Nina, Chef! Quick question- where did you get the cutting board/saw horse set-up? Would love to surprise a great (and tall) cook in my life. Great idea.

Don't sweat it Nina. Nomenclature is something that comes back to you when you get back in the practice. Food service inspectors are never too far in between. When you do have the opportunity to encounter them. Their qualifications far exceed the questions I ask you. Food service inspections typically happen when required or when necessary. Have you experienced any lately?

Bluewater?? Hmmm. I don't know if you ever watched him, but Matthew from Work know a Superyacht, he had some fabulous content and probably would be a good video. Obviously he can't post now because he was going for his First Officers. If you can get him on, that would be cool. Not chef related, but definitely yacht related. There is another chef and I'm not putting her name out there because I think she is fake and isn't a yacht chef, but she's heavily tattooed kind of a goth/emo girl with the purple and pink hair, face tattoos, wears all black everything. She says that she is a yacht chef on a 35M based in the Caribbean....but again I think she isn't real. If she is, she would be an interesting interview just to see how she was able to get away with her crap.
@OliveOilandGasoline
@OliveOilandGasoline 2 года назад
"Mathew from work?" Is that the name of a channel? I usually try to get some sort of food related or yacht chef related guest. Or a provisioner, supplier, baker etc. I'd interview a yacht captain, definitely.
