Thanks MAN!! Also, if you are using 4.2: 1. turn on your wii 2. click the sd card slot 3. insert your sd card 4. follow the on screen instructions

@NorthNinja unfourtunately you need an sd card, you cant access usb files on the wii. but before you buy an sd card, think carefully you may already have one. for example, digital cameras use sd cards. ask your parents if u have one

If you go to settings, I think, there should be a number at the top right corner of the screen. That's your version.

@jozbear From the wii menu, go to wii options (down left corner), then go to wii settings (the left option). On the upper right corner, you will see a number, this is the version of your wii.

when you download it, its named "abd6a_v200.zip " and inside it its a folder named private. Copy that or press the unzip button.

4.3 HBC will be a real challenge, because now it's security is even tighter. That means no downgrading, no bannerbomb or anything. Apparently, now the only way to get HBC back is to use Indiana Pwns or Comex Smash Stack, which I don't think will be a lot of use to people without Indiana Jones or SSB Brawl. Also, I've heard that they're not very reliable. Which makes me think that I'm screwed.

Homebrew is only a channel. It doesn't have no applications. You have to put the programs on the SD Card first then put the SD Card in the Wii. Then run it with homebrew channel.

It will works if you let it with out Renaming it privateold, Just leave it as Private & it will find it. I tried that on my Wii menu 4.2U & it worked perfectly. I was confused at First but it worked for me Finally.

@Supermariofan14 root is the main part of your sd. The part you first see when you open the SD up in the explorer.

the root is the first window/folder you see when you click on your SD card. and yes, it can play region free games, try Gecko OS

You can't get HBC on 4.2 because there isn't a vulnerable IOS on 4.2 Wii Menu. They are working on a solution.

Ok, I've come a long way since yesterday. I've got the homebrew browser working, downloaded a bunch of utilities and got them working. What I want to know is how I can just go ahead and boot actual wii games from my sd card

The homebrew channel is deleted or if you stuck on the sd card and update the wii the homebrew channel would not be-able to load without rehacking the wii

boot.elf is in the hackmii installer folder... i moved it to the main place for my sd card

Yes, it works with all wii's. This is the simplest way you can get it.

Yes i got it fixed ;) If you have 4.2, you will see a little SD card icon on the home screen. click on that and it will work fine :) ;) For those who have 3.2 and higher, they have to go to the wii settings and so on... But not for those with 4.2 ;)

some extra information>> in my private folder, there's a wii folder, in that there's a title folder, in that there's an aktn folder, and in there' the content folder(wich is BIN) and the boot.elf is an ELF file... but that schould be fine according to the video plz help me!!

Why would I want to leave bootmii alone? Isn't bootmii what I need to save my wii in case it gets bricked? And doesn't it do other things, such as boot up homebrew apps? Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm new to this world of Wii hacking!

Thanks sooo much for this tutorial. I'm on a PAL Wii and I installed Homebrew with the first Bannerbomb, incase there was any confusion surrounding Europeans Wiis. But all I have is the channel, it just comes up bubbles. How do I install applications, games etc. I am really stuck so even minimal advice would be very helpful. Thanks!

i really, REALLY don't want to break my wii, but i really, REALLY want to get done with my house on animal crossing city folk and get some of gracie's furniture... anyway, does it really work or not? will it break my wii? all you need is an sd card? after it loads the boot.dol what happens, do you just start the game?

It's not possible to install HBC on 4.2 yet, as when you try to install it in 4.2 Wii, it gives an "no vulnerable IOS" error. The HackMii guys need to update their installer first.

OK sorry I have a small question...everything thing seemed to work Homebrew channel is installed on the wii but when I click on Bootmii my controller unsyncs and won't resync untill I turn the wii off. And another question is I thought it read DVD's like in movies or does that just mean the backups?

I downloaded the files, put them in my SD card and put it into my Wii. The message asking me whether I wanted to load boot dol/elf appears. But when I click ok, the dialogue box disappears and nothing happens. Can this be fixed if I download another version of bannerbomb?

I had homebrew channel before but on an earlier firmware. And of course it didnt work with that version so i removed the channel from the data management and then channels folder. I red about it on a site, that some files from homebrew channel is still on the wii after you have removed it, but that it sould'nt harm my wii. So my question is can i install this firmware version for the wii when i have removed an earlier version?

I have installed the HomeBrew Channel and the DVDX software. There is a third option called "BootMii..." When I choose "BootMii", it gives me other choices as well: "Install BootMii as bootZ"; "Install BootMii as IOS"; "Uninstall BootMii as IOS". What do I do? Or do I just leave it alone? I'm doing this so I can eventually add the backup Launcher to the Wii so I can play backups and what-not.

This isn't working for me. If I do ANY file for banner v1, I get a channel with a ? as the title and icon every time. If v2, it just freezes every time. I followed the instructions step by step. What am I doing wrong?

3. Take your Wii executable (.dol or .elf file), rename it "boot.dol" or "boot.elf" if it isn't already, and save it in the root directory of your SD card. I need help on this part, where do I get the .dol file or .elf file?

OK i did the USB loader the one in your video but when I load my HBC it doesn't show up? even tried you duck hunt to see if its my HBC but the duck hunt works fine. Is there any additional software I need?

Ok cool got it...last question LOL! I made an apps folder and place the USB Loader GX and did all the hardrive formatting and everything but when I launch tha app it loads then goes to a black screen and stays on it? What did I do wrong? Sorry to be a pain.

I tried this too, but it's only freezes :/ And after that i upgraded to 4.2E and tried the second one, but it happened the same there, it freezes :/
