@beaver_warrior
@beaver_warrior Месяц назад
@@hamoostaffat Microgreens are a fad😂 There’s far more nutrients in the seeds before the sprouts consume it all to start growing. And there’s far more vitamins and nutrients in fully developed vegetables that have had time to grow fully. You harvest and eat microgreens at most nutritionally inefficient time where they’ve consumed all the nutrients stored in the seed for growth but haven’t had enough time to grow enough to produce and store their own nutrients. Eating microgreens is like eating extremely underripe fruit. Sure you might like the texture but don’t lie and be pretend that apple blossoms are more nutritious than ripe apples. There’s a reason we eat eggs and chickens but not day-old chicks 😂😂😂
@hamoostaffat
@hamoostaffat Месяц назад
@@beaver_warrior that's not how seeds work, seeds do not hold everything needed to grow greenery, they have enough to start the shoot and tap root, thats when the root starts to eat enough to grow leaves, there are far far more nutrients in shoots than seeds, comparing chicken eggs to leafy shoots just shows you don't know what your talking about, microgreens have been a thing for over 40 years, thats not a fad my friend, its something you don't understand so you try and put it down, if they were no better than the seeds they come from then why don't you try to cut the tap root off when it's about 3mm long and see if it will still grow, I guarantee it dies because the seed has been used up long before then in most cases, take walnuts for example, soon as the root touches the soil and the shoot turns green you can peel the rest of the seed shell off and it grows, take the root off and leave it connected to the seed it will die 🤦‍♂️ Never heard of kiviak? What about Balut? Do you not know most meat birds become "nuggies" after less than 2 months of age? Most veggies havnt even started growing their flowers by then way to compare apples and oranges

Malted sunflower seeds is so genius, gotta try it
@cr4zyj4ck
@cr4zyj4ck 2 месяца назад
I see what you're getting at (malting involves sprouting) but this isn't malting. Malting wouldn't let the plant grow past the initial root stage, activating the maltase enzyme before roasting the seed to allow it to be used for brewing, growing it into a microgreen is way beyond malting. There's no starch/sugar/oil left in the seed at this point, it's all in the plant which is just at the stage to start photosynthesis as it's main source of energy. It's similar but actually something different entirely.

No need for spring if you're in the middle of winter in your area. This can be done inside with the correct grow lights. Growing sprouts is incredibly easy, and a very healthy source of nutrients. @@somethingsomething404 yeah I was saying if you're doing them indoors during a time like winter. The sprouts are too young to handle winter, and having some simple lights over them will promote faster and better growth. There's methods where you put sprouts in a jar to let them grow, but if you're really going all in to grow them as an extra source of food that maybe cuts out the need to buy greens from the store, then I'd have the sprouts in a tray to maximize growth as well as having those lights
