I actually didn't have that much trouble with this world when I was younger. Admittedly the game doesn't tell you much in the way of conveyance in this world, but little me liked exploring so I just kept doing trial and error till I finished it. Wonderland on the other hand can burn in a fire.
Honestly, I don't dislike deep jungle that much. It's bigger than most worlds in KH1 but once you memorize the layout it's pretty easy. The main confusing element is knowing to turn around and climb the vines after the hippo room, and knowing when to go back to the tent.
@@dddmemaybeIt sucks the first time, but thats because the game doesnt tell you where youre supposed to go. It's not that bad on repeat playthroughs but i remember the first time was miserable
The game design for the Jungle world is beyond terrible. Like seriously. How could they ever imagine that children would be able to navigate through this intuitivly?
@@vooshmoozik6185 I worded that wrong: we didn’t have RU-vid. We had FAQs posted to some forum, and that was basically it. Or you had your buddies at school who was able to complete it.
Bruh you have NO GOD DAMN IDEA how badly something like this was needed back in the day. It was years before YT would even be a thing back then so looking up a guide was near impossible.
Honestly, I miss the intricate, confusing and complex layout of KH1 worlds. They could be frustrating at times (hello Deep Jungle, Hollow Bastion, Monstro), but the barren combat rooms of KH2 onward really are missing a certain something.
I think they can make it both interesting and not confusing. they just need give the areas more shape and substance. the worlds in kh1 aren't really confusing because the rooms are interesting, it's because it doesn't tell you where to go and you have to backtrack repeatedly. I think deep jungle is just the worst of it because it's only actually like 4 rooms and you just have to go back and forth and back and forth 100 times in a different order every time
I never played KH1 till now, only KH2 and 3. I was really enjoying the game until I got hit by this demonic world! This world SINGLE HANDEDLY almost made me delete this freaking game, until I give up and decided to just look up a guide. Thanks for the guide. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks this world is absolutely dogwater in every way
Thanks for this, Sham. I didn’t have any issues with this world on my most recent playthrough. But for someone who just wants to get through it quickly, this is bound to be helpful.
The first few times I played KH1 there's always a point where I've done several laps around the entire world of Deep Jungle trying to find what triggers the next cutscene. It turns out that it's in the campsite but only happens by leaving the tent, which you have no reason to go inside at that point. It's hard to map out in your head since the world is so vertical and you can't see which room you'll go to through each doorway. It's just as bad in Traverse Town early on, where I'll have gone through all 3 districts fighting every heartless I come across, thinking I need to find all the cutscenes where Donald and Goofy just barely miss finding Sora. Instead, all you need to do is beat a few heartless then return to Cid's shop. Strangely, later worlds like Halloween Town and even Hollow Bastion are much easier to navigate since there's actual landmarks to orient yourself. KH1 pointing the camera towards the doorway you came through instead of starting it behind Sora makes the worlds more difficult to navigate, especially since there's no map, minimap or compass.
Yeah, terrible game design really, especially when you consider that this was made for children. The game offers very little in "hey this way" format. Even the older final fantasy games at this point in time offered some waypoint to navigate too, eventhough they had no lighthouse pointer on the mini map like alot of modern games does nowadays.
2024, thank you. I knew it would be a hassle after beating KH1 a half dozen times as a child. I genuinely enjoy Deep Jungle, but the propensity to get lost is abysmal. Beat DJ in 30 minutes on proud (after getting the Dalmatians and messing around some for exp). Also, Clayton is so annoying. Took me 3 tries lol.
I’ve been stuck at the vines for so long! I’m playing on computer, and all I need to do was lock on and press enter. No more pressing ‘W’ or space bar like I’ve been doing. 😭 Finally got that chest.
Not only does this level screw with me bc of the terrible platforming but bc I'm r/g colorblind trying to differentiate btw the climable/swingable vines and background textures is a nightmare. Esp while the camera is struggling to keep up while you're moving. Even finding the brown slide tokens on brown assets is hard. Thank you for this!
I actually beat it long ago I don't think I've seen videos when i first played it i remember because i hated Alice in wonderland far more than this level
I first did this world on the fucking switch cloud ports. That fact made it one of the worst experiences in my life. Maybe thats just cause switch ports
I bought this game back when I was an older teen, like 18. And I put the game down because of Deep Jingle. Didn’t have the patience even after I had spent my hard earned 50. Horrible level design
1:14 while this sounds like a complete contradiction of what he said in the opening, this is technically ivy and not a vine, which means the opening statement is still accurate
i have spent some time trying to do this thing, and it makes me wanna quit the game all togetherif i had to go through with it, luckely i dont have to deal with it to . this is shitty part of the game.
