I agree with this, I went after media and now I am in the garments industry with a scalable trade - I would have never went after this before failing out of the industry. I definitely started back at zero but I enjoy the work, which I feel is a success - the money will come.

Jobs is right. Galloway is dead wrong. If you want everyone to succeed in following passions, stop sending them to coercive schools. Compulsory schooling is the culprit. It makes people lose the sense of what they love and who they are. Daily training of doing things you hate!

What is the secret sauce : luck. Planning is great until it is not. Finding something you are good at is exactly right but often that is the result of luck.

Go to a city if you want but do find your niche, what comes easy for you. Scott has a point, it happened to me. Graduated with a degree I did not use, got into a low paying job, worked my way up ended up in research type job, struggled to get into IT. After I got laid off worked for a compliance firm learned some excel skills but I wanted to go back to my research analyst job and I got several increases and switched jobs twice since I got back and I'm looking for another place with higher income but still in the same position. I was always good at researching and finding things on the internet. Research is not sexy, what I do is so niche you would not understand but law firms are willing to pay a good salary for it. I've decided way back to quit IT and just do what I'm doing. As long it pays the bills and I get to do what I want I'll keep doing what I'm doing. If you can do this in your early 30s you will be in great shape.
