Consider this, Biden is setting up his legacy for the end of his years of public service. How will he be remembered years from now? He has opened the door for minority groups: First, female and black VP, First, gay Secretary of Transportation, First, transgender Secretary of Health, his Press Secretary Black and LGTB, 24% black cabinet, First, SCJ - KBJ, and the cherry on the cake …. providing a pathway for the First, black female as President of the US, by default re-election and then resigning. What a feat to his legacy. Does this put him up there with Lincoln, Kennedy, writing the wrongs of yesterday? Master strategist, perhaps… could Harris be elected on her own? Probably not, but he does provide a pathway. I admire what he has done and the inroads for minorities, however I prefer to vote for a candidate chosen by the voters based on comparative discourse between candidates in an open debate, not through a manipulated political legacy. It is time to access and open debates to Democratic candidates, not allow our next President be through political maneuvering of someone creating a legacy.
Biden has no chance of winning. He should step away from the candidacy to preserve his legacy and also to serve the country. If he does not, I will lose all respect for the man.
Prediction: Biden is done soon. Good riddance from the campaign despite mostly laudable record. Now, what comes next? Immediate coronation would be a mistake but if it happens I can live with that despite misgivings. She would have even more support if she earned it in a friendly beauty contest (that would require utmost good faith among all parties -- can that happen?). I believe that there is pent up fury about Trump that will hemorrhage out in a good and unified way once the age issue is off the table. And there is only one age issue now; age + felon + overall repulsiveness. This could all end well.
If your candidate was trailing a convicted felon in all of the polls, before they went out and torpedoed their own campaign with the worst debate performance in living memory, you should probably change your candidate.
The fact that half the country has no morals and are voting g for a rapist, convicted fraud, psycho psychopath liar is the problem, not Joe Biden. No one else will do better. Cause half the country has been conned.
I disagree with George Clooney speaking out. He is no more important than any other American. Not only might his fame sway some people who were undecided, but it calls more attention to what the news has focused on way too much. Yes, it's ok to have concern, but I think it's giving Drumpf's side a lot of ammunition. If Biden can no longer fulfill his duties after being elected, he resigns and Kamala takes over. Done.
President Roosevelt died in office and we still won WW2. Biden is at the end of his career and still the best alternative to trump. I will vote for Biden if he is in hospice care, he has a strong loyal administration and democracy will prevail. This is why we have Vice Presidents as a plan B just incase and there is talk of her being in the lead to replace Biden anyway so leave it alone and focus on Trumps lies and his Project 2025.
I love these Democrats trying to run cover for George Clooney or Obama. This is not that complicated. Everyone knew what was going on with Joe Biden. As long as they thought it wasn’t going to affect his chances to win, they kept their mouth shut. After the debate, they realized he’s going to lose and now they’re all turning on him. I have friends who only consume left-leaning media. They had no idea Biden's cognitive abilities have been in serious decline for the last two years. The debate was the first time they saw it. This is because their "trusted" media had been concealing his condition for years. Now, my left-leaning friends finally realize that their favorite media is not trustworthy. And to be fair, none of the corporate media is trustworthy ... and that includes FoxNews.
Who the hell is Clooney to wield that kind of power? The powerful political elite can't get Biden to step down and in steps Clooney? Who the hell is running this country??
