Everyone cheering Joe to get up, but he pretty much gives up until Nanbu of all people tells him to get up. That's powerful! Not even Yuri's 'pep-talk' hit him that hard! He was ready to give up because he thought Nanbu gave up on him, but then he didn't! And all of a sudden Joe got his second wind!

Love the scene so much. Something not a lot of people get is the theming here. He came into this fight knowing he had to throw it and wearing his gear, thinking his coach has no faith in him. At this moment he's no longer "Gearless Joe" But the moment nanbu says get up it gives him hope and he stands up, his gear falling off, and he's Gearless Joe once more

Gotta hand it to Nanbu. Not ONLY did he knock out a mafia-second and hold his own against 2 younger underlings long enough to get Joe back in the fight, he did all of this WILLING to pay the high price for his insubbordination.

Wrong anime. This anime is about the story behind the fights. Not the fights themselves. It's isn't flashy it's GENUINE. It's about living your life to the fullest and being the happiest you can be. Not being a "slave" to anything. Taking your future in your own hands.
