Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald only use the battery for the clock, not save data. Only the Game Boy and Game Boy Color games use a battery for saves for the main series.

There is actually a V5 now for the DIY version! It is very nice and is essentially the perfect device.

For your Megman 64 save file you probably need to use some kind of save file converter to make it work with your emulator of choice. A quick Google search came back with a couple community made tools for that very purpose. Not sure if it would work for you but maybe it's worth a try.

This is just as illegal as downloading roms lol. You own the cartridge not the contents on the cartridge.

I would have loved to have this 20 years ago. My pokemon gold save I had filled my pokedex and boxes with all trades I had gotten since forever. Still have the cart, but saves are all but gone.

Within the first minute: “The original Pokémon and even Pokémon Ruby over here use battery saves” Uh, no. Ruby uses the battery for the real-time clock (RTC). It uses flash for the save. The flash can get corrupted but it generally lasts forever. When the battery goes dead the game just tells you that all the event stuff isn’t going to work.

If you want to get glue residue off of something without any hassle reapply the sticker over the residue a bunch of times and the glue on the sticker will pull off the residue after a few times. Only some times it'll take a bit longer to get it off, if that happens try covering it with a different area of the sticker.

I used to use the Monster Brain for Gameboy until recently when I picked up the Epilogue GB Operator. It's Emulators are a big plus in addition to saves.

The GBA Pokemon games actually dont use the battery for their save files... only for the real time clocks. If the battery dies you can still save but in game timed events wont happen.

I just got my Open Source Cartridge Reader from Save The Hero over the last couple months and I love it. Finally was able to get the save off of my copy of OoT that has been on the cart since I was a kid. (How the battery hasn't given up yet, I don't know.) Now I can finally solder in a new battery.
