The blanked-off button in the centre console is for the roof light in some regions. The MAF sensors are Bosch Motronic 2.7 and common with many, many regular cars. Just check the Bosch part numbers. They are a fifth of the price if they don't come in a box with a horsey on it.

For 19 years I drove a Porsche 928S2 5 speed that tended to run rich. Guess what I found? The same thing, the MAF connector would corrode and cause an improper signal to the fuel injection computer. Every few months I would pull it off [connected to the lower half of the air filter housing], clean it with deoxit, and then put it back together. Takes about 10 minutes.... Great video!
@iceman9678
@iceman9678 Год назад
Did you ever use dielectric grease to keep out the moisture?
@Flies2FLL
@Flies2FLL Год назад
@@iceman9678 I tried EVERYTHING! I cleaned it, I deoxited it, I wrapped it with electrical tape. Yes I tried dielectric grease. A combination of tape and this grease increased the time between MAF pulls, but it still occurred. I exchanged MAF's with John Speake in England; He rebuilds Bosch MAF's and sent me the one off of his car and it still did it! The connector probably needed to be replaced, but I suspect that this part wasn't properly designed and eventually corrosion set in. I went around the car and cleaned all the other connections to no avail; None of them were bad. Crazy how one small simple item can make a car run like crap~

It was continually developed and used all over the world with every system and updated for widescreen (as seen here) and HD. It offers an immediate visual metric of frequency response, linearity, purity, white balance and colour accuracy, convergence, focus, black levels and standard staircase, and every possible thing an engineer may need to give you a perfect image. I asked him how much was the service on the car and he told me that if you had to ask you could not afford it . He also told me that if it broke or needed service he called the dealer and they would pick up the car and he did not worry about the price. He also told me that if you can't write the check and not worry about it than that is the wrong car for you to have. Watching your videos and what that doctor told me made a lot of sense about expensive cars.

If anything is still in good shape keep it as a spare. ANYTHING requiring major procedure to even get to something, if you need to get to something below that u might as well replace it all the way back together. Imagine doing that and having a thermostat fail or something otherwise new when it goes back together??

Hey Wizard, I bet you didn’t know that the British Vauxhall Cavalier/ mainland Opel Ascona of August 1981 - October 1988 also had the idea of removal/replacement of the 3 part clutch through a bottom inspection cover without removing the gearbox, it won awards for it, you could do a clutch replacement in 45 minutes if you knew what you were doing. but GM realised they were losing service work because it was so easy, so deleted that great idea with the new 89 models. MAYBE that’s where Ferrari got the idea.

Owned An Opel Monza cabriolet with that clutch system. Took me 20minutes to change the clutch and 15 minutes more to collect the tools, put them away and wash my hands :) Absolutely superb design, even faster than changing the clutch in my split window VW kombi!
@georgebettiol8338
@georgebettiol8338 Год назад
The replacement of the clutch on a Ferrari 308 does not require the removal of the transversely fitted engine and/or transmission assembly - which is a significant benefit as clutches on these cars are not 'long lived' - when the cars are used with verve. The Dino 308 GT4 (later named Ferrari Dino 308 GT4) was the first Ferrari fitted with the said V8 and it first introduced in 1973 which predates the Cavalier/Ascona by some 8 years.

Years ago I had a friend who owned a Cadillac. He took it to the dealer once for servicing. I say once because before he gave him the keys, he asked for a written estimate. They replied by telling him "if you have to ask, you can't afford to own a Cadillac". Needless to say, he never went back there. Instead, he took is car to a reputable mechanic. I imagine owners of exotic cars are frequently in a similar situation.

People defer maintenance on exotics because the labour and part prices are unnecessarily exorbitant. You can buy a part with a Ferrari stamp that is $1000 or the exact same part with a Fiat stamp for $50. If they wouldn't rip people off like this, maybe owners would spend the money.

The 355 is a great 'modern' Ferrari', but I prefer the more analogue 348, perhaps because the Testarossa similarity is so iconic. The interior is compact but easily fits my "overweight" proportions, and much wider than the 328. And the instrument cluster continues the 328 design with the orange dials, 100% better than the white on black 355 dash. Good video.

NO - the 348 is still a Maintenance nightmare. The Transverse engine design means that the engine MUST be removed to perform many basic service tasks. Ferrari/Exotic shop labor-rates have all increased, but the amount of hours to remove a 348 engine has not decreased....so just getting access to service issues starts at $2-3K before any real work can be performed. Couple that with the scarcity of quality 348 parts, some items are already NLA anywhere. Hard Pass.

I’m not a Ferrari aficionado. What year is this car? What did it sell for new? What might it be worth after the Wizard gets everything running right? Thank you.

I love how shocked Car Wizard is telling us about the price of repairs as if he's not the one generating the price

People need to be made aware of these things before they get that eBay "buy it now" cheap Ferrari....and then get service bills north of $20,000 just to get it to run correctly. Those time-bomb cars are NOT in short-supply - many Exotic owners LIE about their service expenditures to get-out of properly maintaining a car they're looking to sell.

It’s the mileage and the years that take a toll on a car. Even a car sitting in a garage for 30 years will have issues. Cars were not designed for longevity

True, but ya can't just park it out on the street or driveway tho... Especially if it's a Ferrari! 🤨

Go ask that question on the Cadillac channels instead... Might get an answer much quicker that way! 💡

Labeling where the horn is important on a Ferrari. They are normally at the grips. Never fails in the track a Ferrari takes a turn horn blaring. I can imagine the clutch being that fast to replace. Remember, these are race cars for the street.

Over the years I have owned Ferraris, Porsches, both turbo and RSR, M BMW's, Alpinas and Jaguars. By far the most expensive car I have ever run is my current Morgan 3 Wheeler. I would guess it averages about a $5,000 bill a year for 3,000 km usage. There is not room here to list the things that have broken and had to be replaced, just for a start, the tubular chassis twice, from tube fractures.

OK, can ya just tell us which part costs like the most money and needs to be replace the most often? 🤔
@wilsonlaidlaw

@@OtomoTenzi The chassis needed to be replaced twice. The first time as the main longerons fatigue failed. Parts FOC from Morgan €7000 labour. It then needed to be replaced again as garage#1 had dropped and bent the chassis. All work done FOC at Morgan in Malvern but truck transport to and from south of France €4000. Bill last year for new clutch (failed cover plate), replace torsional vibration absorber yet again, replacement fuel tanks (originals cracked welds), new fuel pump, replacement seat belts, rebuild bevel gearbox was over €7000. This is just some of the larger bills. There have also been a lot of smaller ones and there would also be all my labour to take into account.
