Music, be it rap, R&B, country, pop, whatever: IT HAD TO BE BETTER! Because they were competing for your dollars!. Now, it's just Spotify and the quality is not at all the same, generally. And at that time, autotune was still just a gimmick. Today, it's the foundation. Sad. People used to sing! For real. Play! Write songs of distinctive quality. It's just not necessary anymore. It's all streamed. No one has to make a decision about how they'll spend their money on physical product. There are audiophiles who still care. But they're listening to remastered music made 40 to 65 years ago! Seriously. There are a few standouts among new artists, but it's quite rare.
