A friend of ours brought this Coleman model 290 to us to see if we could get it back up and running for him, it didn't take much to get it back in working order!

I believe 1985 was the first year of the 290, these aren’t my favorite as I like the old nickel plated ones best, but these are good lanterns.i also like the “picket fence” globes.

You mentioned 83’ was the last year of the 220, I didn’t know that. June of 1983 is on it’s way.

What kind of carb cleaner should we use?

Anything that does not say "Non flammable" or "Contains chlorine" . If it says it is flammable it is fine to use.

Berrymans B-12 is what I use to clean check valves, and on a old one that I haven’t taken apart and cleaned with a total tear down, I’ll run a few ounces per tank of it in the Coleman fluid. You’ll get a little bit of extra smoke depending on the ratio, but won’t hurt anything if running outdoors.
