I have the same Texas Pride trailer in the bumper pull version. I sometimes store the M62 in my shop without the bucket. When I saw your video, I at first thought I wouldn't be able to use mine because of the bumper pull construction, but if I put the bucket on my truck (flatbed), there shouldn't be any problem with frontal clearance. I just wanted my trailer to handle my 12k skid loader, and because this would become a weight issue, I always considered removing the bucket as mentioned and adjusting the tongue load to make me legal. Now I realize that I can transport the 9k M62 without a worry. Thanks for the video!

before I used the 5th wheel trailer I used a bumper pull of the same size. I actually welded up a bracket to the front of the trailer over the cylinder to support the bucket and protect the cylinder. unfortunately, I don't have any videos of how I that did but if you're interested send me your information and I can send some pics. I stopped using the bumper pull just because even with a distribution hitch it was much harder to balance the trailer properly to keep from fish tailing or lower the effectiveness of the breaks depending on how much forward or back it was. i found the margin of error was only 6".

I just picked up a 12’x6’ dump trailer… how much extra width do you have left inside, do you think you’d have been able to get it into a 6’ wide.
@dirtydiggerm62
@dirtydiggerm62 8 месяцев назад
I'll have to measure but mine is a 7' wide I don't think you can get in a 6' wide. not to mention with my 16' trailer i only have about a foot of length to move in plus had to do the top extension for the bucket.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for putting this video up. Just ordered my Texas Pride gooseneck dump trailer last week and began wondering if I was going be able to fit my tractor and backhoe in there. This sure put my mind at ease. I've got the frame size (tractor) one step below yours, so should be in good shape. Where did you find the 10 ft. aluminum ramps?

Y’all have good luck with Texas pride trailers? I bought mine new and it dumps super slow, they forgot the breakaway brake box and the brakes are defective and they wouldn’t fix them but acknowledged they had a bad batch. Mines a 7x16 16k

@@Trailerhooding so I ordered a 16ft, 18K gooseneck and picked it up at the factory in Texas. Towed it home and by the time I got home (2.5 hrs) I had a flat. I got the best tires I could get. Filled the tire and the next day, it was off the rim flat. Installed the spare and contacted the sales man. Pretty much a "yeah, well sorry, not my problem." I also noticed a brake shoe dragging when either loaded or not. You can smell the brakes and one rim you could fry an egg on. Again, no response from them. They are a heavy trailer which is both bad and good. I ended up selling my trailer to my boss and we haul a skid steer and materials around in it, all the time. So far, it's not working out real good and now he's thinking of selling it for what we really need. That being said...boss man had a Texas Pride last year and the frame completely broke on him. They fully warrantied that trailer and gave him a brand new one.

Outstanding. I didn't know you could leave the boom out like that. I bought a PJ 20' equipment trailer and it slightly hangs off the back. Wished I'd gotten a 24', but this gives me hope I can fit my m62 on it. Thanks!!!

no problem. as far as i know because the tractor is under 10k and the bucket dose not stick out to far to have to be flagged this set up works

SWWEEEET thanks for the great M62 stuff... I'm up near Kingman with an M62, where did yu get those awesome ramps?
@dirtydiggerm62
@dirtydiggerm62 2 года назад
i ordered them from summit racing. they are the 120" 15k lb ramps. they are a little overkill and heavy but work well. my buddy has a the same tractor and trailer as i do and ordered a pair as well but they sent him the 10k ramps which do work but flex a lot. when i saw they gave him the wrong ones they ended up correcting the mistake and exchanged them for the correct ones. if you do get a set make sure it has the additional center in it that makes them solid and gives the extra rigidity

Have a similar setup but my dump trailer is the pj16ft three axle trailer. When I put my m62 in the trailer the tip of the boom was just over 14ft. Had to lower the bucket down on my doors to get under the 14ft im about 13.5 I have been chaining around the outriggers and letting the boom rest on the chain instead of my doors but watch them clearances. Always throw a flag on it out here in nv ca dot is hard on these guys with dump trailers and equipment. Havent had anything mentioned about oversize signs yet but im sure its coming.

i know federally its anything over 4 ft behind has to be flagged. i was not aware of any other state standards for CA or NV., but i try not to go out of state often. i know with my setup the top of the backhoe to the ground is about 12.5. id be interested in seeing how your setup would be different. as far as oversized loads other than if your Hight is to much it should be will under what would be considered oversized.

Thank you for making this video and sharing this information. Are you able to latch lock the backhoe boom? Is the total weight of the tractor/ramps/FEL/backhoe and trailer legal for a guy with standard drivers license? I live in California so I’m sure the laws are different in your state. Would you do anything differently with regards to the trailer if you were to repurchase? I look forward to a video on securing the tractor too. Great job figuring this all out. I have had my M62 since 2018 and kind of given up on the dump trailer dream due to lack of knowledge and all the perceived hurdles.
@dirtydiggerm62
@dirtydiggerm62 2 года назад
yeah, California is different i don't know for sure the ins and out of it though since i have not lived there in a long time but i believe that if your trailer is over 10k in California you need a special licence or endorsement. my setup is right on the border of what i can tow without a cdl and i made sure to go to a cat scale just to make sure i was not over wight. over all i like this trailer. if you look at some of the earlier videos i had a bumper pull dump trailer with the thinner standard floor. it was well worth it to go thicker and use a gooseneck. much safer to transport. yes, I'm able to keep the pins in and lock the boom when transporting it

What does the tractor and trailer weight
@paybax
@paybax 2 года назад
I just have a little B26 but got R14’s on the front, they are the same size as the R4 so no 4WD issues. You should check if they make R14’s in the same size as your fronts too. I actually had to do to a smaller rim but worth the extra cost. Traction is way better, drives straight in mud and no sliding to the side, still easy on the ground and way better in snow.
@dirtydiggerm62
@dirtydiggerm62 2 года назад
yeah i have heard good things about the r14s i have the r 4s because in the bigger size the r14 are a lot more and im using it on dirt most of the time so id rather have the better traction vs the r14 which are better on the road

Any idea what your tongue weight is? I think you might be exceeding your payload on the truck.
@dirtydiggerm62
@dirtydiggerm62 Год назад
I do happen to have a ball scale. my trailer with the tractor in it is at 2000lbs at the ball. my truck is rated for gooseneck trailers u to 21k. ford says tung wight should not exceed 15% of gvwr of the trailer which means a max of 3150lbs. my trailer which is a 16k would be 2400lbs for the max. so it's close but in proper range.

In pa state troopers don't know the truck/trailer laws. They will come out and tell you that. Only the dot knows and enforces the laws.

You have to tie down the implements. You did not show ratcheting down anything, but only saw 4 chain binders in the bed. You also need to at least use heavy webbing strap on your FEL bucket. And OMG the BH hanging out the back. You did not show you using the pin to make sure the boom can't drop, but hopefully assuming you did. When you moved the dipper out and back, I did not see the boom move at all. That is critical. In your setup, if you ever forgot that lock pin, your boom could drop damaging your trailer and the bucket could hit the ground while you are driving down the road. You have to tie off the BH. I think the BH bucket has to be resting on the trailer floor. I see no provisions that will allow you to do that. It sticks out the back hanging out of your trailer. I don't think that is legal. You also at least need a flag, but I think that is the least of your violations. That setup looks very sketchy and you said your friend followed your lead.
@LisaMedeiros-tr2lz

What is the OAL of the M62 with the BH attached? I think I read it 252.9 inches which is over 21 feet. You maybe able to make it slightly shorter with the BH at an angle, though not sure you could put it 45 degrees with a 7' width trailer. That could shorten your OAL. To me, it looks like you need a 24 foot gooseneck. They do have them in 22', but I the ones I saw are bumper pull. I don't think you want that. You only mentioned the tongue weight above. You did not say how much your trailer weighs empty, just that it had a 16K GVWR. You have to subtract off the weight of the trailer to see what the rated load it could safely and legally carry. 16' GN 16K dumps I have seen tend to weigh about 5K empty. You are probably within the GVWR of the trailer with your M62 in it, but when you add ramps, binders, any other gear, you should check it on a CAT Scale, because you might be overweight of the trailer axles. I have not seen 22' GN trailers, though they probably exist, or you could custom order one for lots of money. I see a Lamar 16K GVWR that is 25', and that weighs 5650 ibs empty. You did not say the trailer capacity of your tow vehicle, but you need to make sure it is under all the GVWR, GAWR, and CCWR of your tow vehicle. That Lamar I am talking about had the last few feet a beaver tail with folding ramps that end up flat level with the deck once they are folded. It was about $14K. You could be looking at the expense of a higher rated truck in all this. I would not trailer it the way you are. I don't think it is legal. If you get pulled over, you may be taken off the road on the spot with your trailer and tractor impounded. In my state, you need a CDL to pull a trailer over 10K GVWR. I am not typing all this just to give you shit. I am looking at YT vids of the M62, because I want one. I have a beautiful all aluminum new trailer that is only 10,000 GVWR, so I think it will not do the job, and I would have to factor that in to the cost of the tractor and also my tow vehicle is only rated to 10K also. Another huge expense in addition to the already whopping $80K new these M62's are, or resign myself to it being bound to my property unless I want to spend another fortune to be able to legally transport it.
