Getting all the story inspiration in Yakushima! | Japan Vlog #3 

I cannot express how blissed out I was on this island and how I feel every time I reminisce about this place. Visiting the island where my characters live was everything I wanted and more. I had never felt CLOSER to them. I kept feeling like I could run into them at every turn. It was truly magical, and I learned so much!
And before you ask, yes "Princess Mononoke" is set on this island, and no, I was not inspired by that movie to set my story here. I had never even heard of that movie until well after I decided that.
