I had a lady change lanes with me next to her at 65mph, when I stopped rolling down the highway without my bike, and I woke up, the only thing left of my shirt was the collar, had a lot of road rash, and pinched nerves in my neck, it took about 2 months to repair my bike and I was back on it, but I was very paranoid about people coming up next to me for a good month.

It sticks with you. There’s being vigilant while riding and then there is your mind doing extra things like controlling your fun as a safety switch. I’m more uneasy on the bike that I went down with, but I’m hoping I’ll shake it, it’s been two months now. Did not know that story about you, glad you recovered and powered through it!

the first deer I hit four years ago I wasn't shook up, just pissed. The one I hit last year I don't remember before or after. Three days later when I woke up with a room full of family and in one hell of a lot of pain I was a very confused individual. Two weeks in the Hospital and months of trips to the Doctor. About six weeks later I looked at and bought my next ride. I left the mans place after dark and about a half mile down the road I came about as close as you can get to hitting a deer without actually hitting a deer. That anger thing quickly resurfaced. Will I ever forget my accidents, I see deer all the time, they wont let me. Does it mess with my happy time, on every ride. Riding can clear the mind, but sometimes I am just left with my thoughts. Nice to hear you are okay and back in the saddle again. Ride safe, but sometimes that still isn't quite enough to get ya home.

I call mine the dark passenger, she rides my bitch seat, whispering through the comm, in the city she’s nagging about the texting drivers, in the country it’s watch out for the deer. She keeps me on the edge. I get it. But I just want to ride. It’s one reason I like group rides, sometimes I find it more relaxing. Much respect for you staying the course. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Seems like for some folks, as time goes on you go more into autopilot for certain things. I’m still in my first few months riding so I’m still on high alert and being extremely cautious. This is a good reminder to not forget about the basics. Even still, shit happens I guess. I enjoyed the video, subscribed.

Welcome and thank you for subscribing! You are correct, you tell yourself you’re a good rider, perhaps you think you are better than you actually are and you might be, but with an equipment change here and there the bike feels different then you go down and all of a sudden things feel differently and your confidence is waining. Good thing I have another bike to evaluate myself with. Some of it is in my head.

@@KennyQuestShow Proverbs 16:18-19 King James Version (KJV) Pride goeth before destruction, And an haughty spirit before a fall. Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, Than to divide the spoil with the proud. Here is some wisdom. Personally I think you should never lose the respect (not fear) of what you are doing, which is a more dangerous activity then others. And dont get to comfortable with the skills, because they can only go so far. What I love about riding the most is, that in todays traffic here in europe, where its really crowded... you have to be 100% focused on the driving, which is actually a big mental relief from other things. It keeps your problems away for the time youre in the saddle and you cant let your mind go elsewhere. God bless

I hit a tree a few years ago, ragdolled through a median, and my bike was in oncoming traffic. My leg was messed up pretty bad, and I spent most of the year between saving my leg, and learning to walk again. Walker, then crutches, and I still have a cane I sometimes use. It's was nearly a year later, my bike was finally repaired, and I was healed enough to get back on. I figured I had to get back on for at least one ride, even if I never rode again after that.. just to say I won. I was super cautious, took it slow, just around the house, then to the gas station, then the grocery store, then to work. I don't have the same feeling in my leg, and it took over a year to raise my arm level with my head. I had to relearn how to drive my pick up, the peterbuilt I drive at work, and then finaly my bike. Today, I am doing livestreams from a Harley-Davidson!!! It takes a while, but those butterflies are real. Good luck, and glad you are ok.

I dumped my road bike twice hard but, I fixed it and got back on. My dirt bike I drop routinely, yesterday it went over some rocks and into a ditch. I pulled it out, hopped on and rode out. That was enough fun for the day. I do ride nearly every day. All gear, all the time but, I've still been injured post the road crashes.

One wreck, one back in the saddle (kinda prefer to say I was hit since it was very much the car's fault). I was out for 2 years, 1-1.5 of that basically required medically. It taught me a lot of things, but the most impactful one was that I'd rather accept the risk of riding than not ride. Once I got back in the saddle I doubled or tripled my yearly mileage and really got involved in the community aspect of it. Glad you're back! Cheers!!

@@KennyQuestShow heck yea man. I had a pretty soft bucket list of bike things I never did prior. Afterward, I did my first Saddlesore 1000 some months later, and just completed a Bun Burner Gold (1500 in 24 or less) a few weeks ago to get my Mile Eater certification. I have some mile monsters to thank for being a good/bad influence depending on your perspective, but as my wife said when I started longing for a bike again "you're a biker, get a bike". What's that saying? Find what you love and let it kill you 🍻

Had a person come to a complete stop on me on the freeway going around 70mph in no traffic. I slid into her going 20-30mph, my foot got stuck in the wheel and she dragged me for 10 feet. Reason she dragged me is she didn't feel me crash into her. I also knew she came to a complete stop because she wasn't moving then she was and I was attached. I had a fractured leg, a cut open foot (her tire burnt into my foot), road rash on my ass. I healed and now have a vulcan 900, I am only overly cautious when I see people's brake lights.

I can see why brake lights would give you anxiety. Today my anxiety seems to return when I ride the bike I had the accident on, working through it the best I can.

@@KennyQuestShow back to the parking lot. I went from riding around town to riding 2 hours to Born Free CA (San Diego to Long Beach/Santa Ana moutnains). If I didn't have my buddy with me, probably would have been super cautious. He pushed me to split lanes again and trust the road a little bit more :D

I've got a guy that comes into the shop that i'm sure he's got a death wish. Dood has crashed a CBR1000RR/R, GSXR1000, R1, R6 and ZX6R. Somehow never hurt badly, even though he was doing at least 120mph. Guy's the poster boy for gear saving lives. He's one of those guys you see in a full suit on the road, and boy does he use it. Just buys another bike and hops back on. He is also like 24. I take a tumble like that on my FZ1, I ounno if i'm getting back up.

If Rossi can withstand crashes on the track I guess as long as no one runs you over while your sliding a full gear with air vest will protect you. Kudos to him. But he needs to keep it on the track those bikes you mentioned can do 90 in first gear.

Never had an accident so far, Praise the Lord. What I would recommend is going back as if you would start off new. Get familiar with the Bike again. Parking Lot practice, slow speed manouvers, emergency braking and swerving.... just the stuff the YOU can do. Accident involve other people sometimes and its out of your control. You can just do everything to mitigate the damage. I am a german and i dont see people here without FULL GEAR. Its very, very rare to see the cool boys with naked arms and a pisspot as a helmet. Its their skin and their life though. But for us as a country, its taking care of their medical bills if they need to be spoonfeed afterwards in a nursing home.... Thats part of medical insurance here, where we all parttake. So just do what you can that you cant blame it on yourselve. the rest is well in Gods hands and he is more than capable to keep you safe if its his will. God bless to the fellow riders over the drink

I was recently in a motorcycle accident a couple weeks ago. I was riding with a buddy to the mountains and then went back home and somebody failed to yield pulled out and I blacked out. I didn't remember anything. It was just a green light and then I woke up on the ground. I broke my arm nose and got a concussion and when they put me into the ambulance I got more worried about my friend. I just kept asking. Is he okay? Is he okay? He was fine only I was hit now I'm just playing the waiting game so I could get back on two wheels

I've been down twice, no real injuries either time. Now I wear all the gear [except I still wear a half helmet] and really pay close attention to everything. I'm just a cautious rider. After each accident, it wasn't but a couple of days before I threw a leg over again - but on my Vaquero, I never felt right on that bike again... got rid of it and got my Street Glide. Problem solved :D
