Getting Diesel with the Freightliner M2 106!Awesome Cummins Sound!

So I had to fill the dual 50 gallon tanks...and to my surprise the truck got 11mpg. My state is in a state of emergency right now so diesel is cheap and gas is up. You can see in the video another box truck driver not paying attention and almost running me out of my lane. This was filmed in early morning and I had just rolled out of bed and wasn't happy about being up this early, so I look like a mess in the end and drove kind of aggressive!

Honestly I’ve seen some of your videos before getting an m2 106 freightliner w. Cummins 6.7 ISB…I love the way it sounds, drives and almost everything lol. I didn’t realize others felt that way about it too. Didn’t even know you had a video for it. Great truck and love the angle view!

My grandpa let me drive his 5.9 third gen. And it sounded amazing. His Ram is 100% stock. Also my bus driver used to drive a C2 with the same engine. I love the sound.

Well I have tons of different trucks on my channel with inside and outside views of the same driving style so enjoy! Safety is number 1 though! I have never had an accident or a traffic ticket. This truck was a bit different from the rest because its was order with a higher horsepower option. Thanks for watching!

Nice. I've been impressed with the 6.7 Cummins in the Freightliner's I've rented. I averaged 10mpg as well.

Same here. So much more power and mpg when compared to the MFDT. This truck is a high power output spec so its a little apples to oranges to the other trucks I have driven. I got 6.6mpg with the MFDT

good video. Some people don't realize you have to learn to watch your mirrors more on a big truck like that.
@crazyjdkid
@crazyjdkid 7 лет назад
Yeah you really have to know your surroundings and the fact that the box is wider than the truck. People that have never driven them don't ever think about things like tail swing, turn radius etc. I give whoever was driving that Penske credit for driving through ATL (and suffering through one of Penskes Internationals). But they should have took the time to really know the dimensions of the truck, they were really worried about that wall/bridge.

All that is optional. Both this truck and the Internationals on my channel could come with an engine break but when they were ordered from the factory they did not ask for that option. But they can have them, just have to order it when building them.

I did a whole review on this truck here- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2nq5CUdM2Es.html There are a ton of other ones on my channel as well. I noticed you said dual fuel tanks, our new truck is coming with these, are they linked together somehow? We fill up on one side due to the way we enter the parking area and was wondering if the tanks will equalize or if I have to fill them independently.
@crazyjdkid
@crazyjdkid 7 лет назад
They equalize! There is a line that runs between the two tanks. I believe there is a shutoff valve as well, but I am not 100% on that. The pump will often pump then they can equalize if the tanks are really empty. But you shouldn't have any problems filling up on the one side. Once the nozzle auto shuts off, you still have tons of room left in the tanks. Thanks for watching!
@Puckgrinder85
@Puckgrinder85 7 лет назад
Awesome, thanks for the answer. I plan on filling the right side up as that's where our tank is situated, and then if I want to add more the next day as the tanks equalize after a period of time (im sure it will take quite a while to do so) I can. Saves me from buying a longer hose!
@crazyjdkid
@crazyjdkid 7 лет назад
No problem! Whatever you do, do not fill the Diesel tank with DEF. That is a $13,000 fix! The M2 is the best medium duty truck I have driven!
@fredallen7217
@fredallen7217 6 лет назад
I have driven lot of the rental trucks and I have to fill them up each one a far a my experience goes you cannot fill one side and it will fill both Tanks you have to fill each tank separately
@fredallen7217
@fredallen7217 6 лет назад
But the tanks have a cross over line so the trucks fuel system is drawing fuel from both tanks at the same time so you have to fill both tanks if you don't then one tanks will run out and the system will start sucking air then the Truck can start choking out or shut Down

@crazyjdkid
@crazyjdkid 7 лет назад
This truck sounds much better inside of it. You hear crazy loud turbo noises that the camera really doesn't pick up. I enjoy the sound of the DT, but inside the Internationals it is very hard to hold a conversation without having to yell at the other person so they can hear. As the DT probably has one of the loudest clanks to it!

@collinzappa1519 7 лет назад
At 2:15 is that a jake brake or wastegate on the turbo?
@crazyjdkid
@crazyjdkid 7 лет назад
Neither! That is called compressor surge, caused by having too much boost! The wastegate on the turbo should have prevented it from getting too much boost like that but it didn't.

does your truck have an EGR system?
@crazyjdkid
@crazyjdkid 7 лет назад
Yes! This truck has an EGR as well as a Selective Catalyst Reduction System (SCR),a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) as well as a diesel oxidation catalyst . It burns very clean and produces no smell or smoke. And in some cases pollutes less than a sedan or pickup! Thanks for watching!

I know you like your new Freighliner coming from an IH but have you seen or know anybody that has an IH with a Cummins and know if they're as quiet? thx
@crazyjdkid
@crazyjdkid 7 лет назад
Well when you compare it to the MaxxForce DT, the Cummins will be quieter no matter what truck its put in! Its a much more refined and smoother operating engine. The DT was from the '80s, when not much care was given to refine it. I have heard from the IC Bus people, which use the International Chassis, that the bus is much quieter inside and out. So I would imagine much is the same for the newer IH trucks. I will try to get a IH with a Cummins the next time the channel can afford it! Thanks!

crazyjdkid that’s good mileage for a truck that size! I’ve done a bit of searching and am now looking for a truck with a Cummins in it, do you think buying one with 200k miles is too many?
@crazyjdkid
@crazyjdkid 4 года назад
@@drewmurphy2796 The Cummins 6.7L has a B50 life of 350k. B50 life is the point before 50 percent of all engines in operation will require major repair(s), overhaul, or replacement. It kind of depends on the application the truck was used in. The truck/chassis life expectancy is probably in the 500-700k range. Milage on a truck this large is not like a small car or SUV, 100k is nothing. As you can see in this video this truck had 100k on it and still looks and operates as new.
