@@jennytwohands6863 Check out Hursh191 too. Great venom player, posts a lot of specific match up videos! I've been playing venom off and on for a while now, he can be pretty tough to learn, but is very satisfying and fun when things click! :)
Been having a blast with ky lately. Still in that early anime game stage where you're using tons of bad strings and unsafe enders but it's slowly clicking
If you vs a venom a lot, it’s worth labbing the SB on the 3rd hit of c.S. I’ve noticed Ryan does the 3rd hit every time he’s close enough for it to land. If the threat of you SBing was there he would have to change up his strings to weaker ones.
Then why buy strive, plus R has rollback so it’s online is one the best in the genre, it has an active community, and it’s not getting any sort of updates or developer support anymore cause it’s damn near 10 years old. If you like this game more just play this game and save yourself the 60+ bucks from getting strive
@@mankdemes8887 From what I've seen ( haven't played yet ), I don't dislike strives combat. I just definitely prefer accent core's. Idk about getting the game at $60 lol, but eventually. Still like to support the series
@@mankdemes8887 +R is still receiving some updates by the team who arcsys contracted to implement rollback. They have added one of the best replay features in fighting game history where you can take control of either character to problem solve while analyzing replays. They've also improved training mode, the input parser, and quite a few other quality of life features.
Looking at the base roster, they probably wanted just one from the characters that were added in X to be in the base game. Anji feels like the best choice since he fits Strive the most and he wasn't in Xrd so it's cool seeing him in 3D. I wonder when Venom will actually get into the game, though. For the base roster they kinda picked from everywhere in the series (The core characters from the first game, 1 from X, 1 from XX, 2 from Xrd and 2 new) and if they do something similar for the season passes then idk when we'll see Venom, since Dizzy, Jam and Johnny are way more popular than him. He's definitely one of the coolest characters in the series, though.
I think the problem is you're trying to challenge s carcass with a button in some way instead of jump out. From what I understand, the level one option to beat carcass is to FD him out to the point that carcass has more travel time, and jump when you expect S carcass. H carcass is another version of the move to explicitly catch jump out attempts, so I think you would be better off trying that instead of swinging when you think he'll carcass, since it not only now forces him to consider between using his plus move or his jump out read move, but also cuz I think worst case scenario for him is way better than worse case scenario for you swinging like that, and you dont even get a combo without spending meter. I'm also pretty sure that carcass is still plus on point blank IB, so challenging after it is kinda a no go unless you've got him trying to bait other things that make him punishable during that time. Hope this info helps in the MU
This is pretty good advice, jumping out of s.carcass forces Venom to make reads or do setups to stop you from jumping. Which usually leave a lot more time to throw out a grounded move or take your turn back. If you can trade carcass raid with 2D or something that's obviously favourable too
sajam, you need to stop paying attention to Twitch chat in matches like this. They told you nothing helpful and you spent a lot of time complaining that they went helpful. Of course twitch chat isn't helpful! It's fucking twitch chat!
I wonder if this pressure has to be instant blocked for Sol to be able to respond. I play Susanoo in Blazblue and because he has a 7f jab if I don't instant block things that are -1 its still my opponent's turn.
Instead of RCing fafnir, you wanna use your force break followup to it, half meter and more damage. Also force break fafnir can be followed in the corner.
Actually considering buying a switch just to play this game since Strive won't be out for another three months. Also, for some dumb reason, it is not available on PS4.
You'd be much better off trying to find a PC that can run it, Switch isn't where the rollback is. I play on a stock laptop (not even a gaming laptop, I mean one of the regular ass ones you'd find at whatever store's electronics department) that was purchased seven years ago and any issues I've ever had were the result of trying to play against opponents with over 200ms latency. Maybe you already have a comparably sufficient machine, I was surprised to discover when I tried the game on mine and it worked.
Controversial opinion. The way Venom was pressuring with constant pool balls? They want that kind of suffocating pressure GONE in Strive. That is the way Guilty Gear has been played in the past and IMO the devs do not want Strive to work this way which is why oki and rushdown were toned down the way they were. Again this is just my opinion.
Well, this video perfectly encapsulates what I hate about anime fighting games. Pressure like this isn't fun to try and figure out, since you keep dealing with 50 billion situations, you get one down, you have so many more situations to understand. It's frustrating and rage inducing, you just want the other player to also stop playing their best moves, but there's no easy way to deal with it. Good on you for staying so calm in what is basically a curbstomp fight. I would've gone 'Sorry, I need to research all your situations before I fight you again. I am not having fun like this.' Also 'I DPd' . I feel you so hard on these things. Can do it easily in a vacuum, but in a match? Nope, never comes out, never will come out. I'll also check out Ryan hunter's twitch VoD on this to see if he has commentary on it.
Sajam had better control than you might think and there's probably not as much to unpack as you think. Venom's only overhead is an air only special and other than that one of the best ways to open someone up with Venom is with normal grabs. The main oki mixup he has with the ballhit jump-in you can try to deal with by fuzzyblocking first high, then low. This probably isn't the level of Venom you should be facing also. Venom get's counter hit during the entire ball set animation which can be very punishable. If you just find a friend to play with at a similar skill-level I swear you'll have fun.
DPs not coming out could have to do with pressure not having holes where you did your input. Don't feel bad about it. Venom who gains alot by chip doesn't gain as much by leaving holes for frametraps since his chip damage is so good. Still, there absolutely are holes where you can try to do stuff. A pretty safe way to check can be to try and jump and block.
@@AgatonSax750 Thanks for the replies. But I felt an old wound opening up watching this. That said, Sajam has linked Ryan's twitch, but not the stream where he goes over anti-venom strats. As general as they can be. And it helps clear up my head instead of constantly worrying about 'HE CAN DO EVERYTHING.' Which can be my response when I get beat so bad that I don't know what hit me and why. What was prediction,' what wasn't. It's also a bit of a personal problem where I just rage if I can't find a fast answer to something...
@@hickknight I think that's what's both fun and hard about GG. It's good to not try and think how to solve everything in the set you're playing just because there are so many options. Ryans pressure is very adaptive here taking advantage of Sajam was doing and being to respectful of. I would give him a lot of credit. I've been where you are though. I for sure know where you are coming from and it's honestly hard to give tips because of all the layers. Block low, watch out for TK mad struggle. Pay attention to where Venom goes for throw on offense. If they can't do frc stinger dash they're going to eventually push themselves out of range. Remember to use FD. Those are some of the basic things when on defense I think.
