i never really cared for street fighter, mainly preferred tekken and anime fighters. after the street fighter slam, i got interested and bought the game. w event, sajam slam for best esports event in the game awards 👍🏽
Thank you so much Sajam for the opportunity it was an incredible experience! Now if you’ll excuse me I’ll be ripping every tv off the walls in my house and replacing them with monitors 🙃
Heihachi domain expansioning you into hell makes more sense than Eddy using one to send you to the capoeira dimension, tbh. Man, I love Eddy's rage art.
I hope you guys had a chance to check out the FamilyJules Family Circus of vidjagam musicianship. They're quite a trip! More humble than you'd think, too.
This is giving me more information to do what I'm wanting to do in regards to a Event format. I just need to do it. A long time ago I ran into Daniel Maniago (clockwurk) at a MLG Raleigh and I asked him (because he had done an event with a high school I believe) how would I go about doing an event like him. And he said just to do it. Its advice that I keep with me, but I've never acted on it. It can be hard because if your surrounded by sweaty ranked players that really don't guide new players very well it atleast brings me down for things I want to do. Watching Sajam Slam was amazing, I liked watching it more than tournaments tbh, and I've been going to tournaments for a bit (stopped tho) was at final round when the wolfkrone vs kbrad happened (was walking by) Thank you for doing this, so much it shows me that maybe my idea isn't so dumb after all.
Honestly, the stancification of heihachi (and other characters) is largely because Tekken 8 went all in on "aggressive gameplay" Due to how the Heat system works/game design of 8, its pretty much impossible to have a truly defensive character. All of the characters normally classified as defensive/turtle/keepout characters in previous games (i.e Asuka, Lee) were given brand new tools in 8 because if they didn't, they would absolutely crumple in 8's system. In order to keep this (imo super unhealthy) direction of the game, you pretty much have to create some barrier to offensive moves, because if you gave these stance moves as moves in neutral they would be way too oppressive. It's homogenization to the next level, even worst than 7. it honestly feels like they want to create "hype" moments for casuals to watch rather than properly implement a system that actually adds to the game. Stances are also a cheap way to give "depth" to a character and add hype, because if a character is doing 5 billion animations for one move it must look cool. Say what you want about the Drive system in SF6, but it doesn't outright erase playstyles like how 8 does. You have more offensive options with Drive sure, but you can check drive and its also a resource you can manage. If Drive was like Heat, Guile would be bottom tier.
This is the first time I've heard objectively bad takes from Mr. Jam. How dare he disparage Krunchers and Goldfish like that??? Deplorable. The FGC is over, fr fr.
Heihachi can go into his new install once per MATCH when he gets 3 charges, which he gets once per round(?) Most, if not all, ways of getting the charges is by heat engagers. But yeah, personally I'm not a fan of how they're making all characters stance characters. There's other ways of applying offense instead of just forcing 50/50s
“..lions and leopards and pandas…” is so rhythmically close to “lions and tigers and bears oh my” that i needed to pause this to go rewatch that sequence
It is not enough believe that your game is superior to another, you must also prove that liking the game you dislike is a sign of moral and intellectual decay.
credit to you sajam for believing in the idea and pulling it off...thrice! (and also being as inclusive, welcoming, and grassroots as possible). the slam is the best new(ish) ;p tournament series! i love watching everyone build friendships and friendly rivalries and learn to love a new game no matter what the game is. as a covid long hauler, i was really happy to see some people masking at twitchcon but that's really my main concern with in-person stuff is everyone should be masks required for covid safety. i don't want to see anyone that i have such fun watching risking their long term health (and the health of others). i would love if you would take that constructive criticism which is provided in good faith! free palestine
Thank you for the invite! I had a ton of fun and thought the offline finals were great. Being able to hang out and meet with so many of the Slammers in person was amazing!!
The FGC has always been a shining example of simply getting together and making stuff happen irrespective of the challenges and what have you. Thanks to you Sajam for continuing to demonstrate that spirit within the modern eSports environment.
