My Satisfaction was IVE about to give us a treat, taking it at the last second and eating it themselves-poetic considering the title of the song. Such a bop!
"I'm kinda sad now that they only have 6 songs" Welcome to DIVE 😂 When I first heard After LIKE, the string part was a bit jarring(?) to me just because I know it so well, and in the original song it's from it's also an instrumental break. But when songs use a sample I usually like it better when they use it in a different way than the original song (like when they use a sample from the bridge as a chorus or something, etc). But then when they rapped over it the second time I was like "yes yes yes this is it". ROYAL was the first time they got a proper rap verse, and Gaeul and Rei (the same two who are rapping in After LIKE) are credited for making the rap! They have a series chronicling their predebut, and they already showed there that especially Rei has been writing raps for a long time, and can confidently rap in Korean, English and Japanese (her native language). She's also co-credited for making the rap in After LIKE. I love My Satisfaction so much, I really think it's close to being a masterpiece, I just kinda wish it went on a little longer and/or went even bigger at the end.
thank you for telling me who was rapping! they did such a great job, i hope they'll get to play around with that skill more in the future bc i really think they have potential! and i totally agree about my satisfaction, i feel like a sudden increase in vocal and instrumental power would have been v cool for the end of that song bc of how much they tease it throughout 😅
These girls really flew to the top after debuting w/Eleven. Won some many awards. But, strings? They are sampling, I Will Survive, Gloria Gaynor, 1978. Check it out sometimes. More (G)I-dle, please, Oh My God, Lion, etc. Thanks for appreciating Ive.🤩🤩
As a very casual IVE listener, I really enjoyed this! And you know what, re-listening to Eleven along with your reaction, I've re-evaluated my opinion of that one, too. It's a lot better than I remember, imo!
Glossed straight over Yujin's dance break in love dive. Basically the hottest shit to come out of an IVE video. Glad you deduced that headphones are more immersive than phone or laptop speakers though!
