Dude I knew it! Was looking for your channel during these COVID times but figured the marriage thing took your time and motivation. Congrats! I can relate to the fulfilled feeling after taking that step and not wanting to workout. Enjoy the moment like you are....but im sure that desire to be in decent shape feeling will return and that feeling that you get from working out and the time to yourself. Need that healthy balance as I’m sure you will eventually refind and redefine with exercise routine. I purchased the newest Powertec model in part because of your videos and still loving it a full year later. Like the home gym discussions/purchases/gym setup talks, looking forward to you getting back to it because you want to. God bless

Wow. Thank you for that response and for supporting the channel. That’s great that you are enjoying the Powertec and that the video was helpful. I have been in the gym a lot more recently and will hopefully make another video this week. Again thanks for the kind words I really appreciate them.

Glad I discovered your new IG account and this RU-vid channel! Had to subscribe to show some support! To answer your question, yes, I believe that there's a point at which you snap out of the fitness blah but it's got to be intentional like everything else that's going to be successful in your marriage. My wife and I have been married happily for 16 years and together happily for 19. The thing that's kept me training throughout that time, and training exclusively in a home gym might I add, that I have a constantly shifting set of mini goals along with some fixed long term ones. My overarching long term goal is based upon something that I heard LL Cool J say in an interview once (ironic considering the song that played at the end of this video). He was in his late thirties at the time and he told the interviewer that one of his goals was to make sure that his wife would never be watching television and see someone that was in better shape than he is and wish her husband looked like that. So although my wife and I love each other no matter what shape we're in, I'm always cognizant of what I'm making her walk down the street next to. Another long term goal is to always be healthy enough to play with my grandkids as well as not being a burden on my kids when I'm older. I come from a long lived family and I have too many relatives who are paying the price in their 80s for not paying attention to their health in their 20s, 30s and 40s. I hear you when you say that you've achieved the goal of being married, having kids and a dog. But you have to realize that you're showing your kids that a healthy lifestyle is either important or unimportant by your daily lifestyle. So my third long term goal is to pass on the gift of health and strength to my kids and through them to the grandchildren that I'll eventually have. The short term goals I have as I said change constantly from how much weight I can lift to how I look, to coming back from injury (my current focus after a rollover car wreck). As for how I do all of these, I use microcycles and you can check out the video I did on that topic here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O7lIYY6VMBU.html

Thanks for the support 🙏🏾. I appreciate you taking the time to give your insight. You’re absolutely right, I now have to shift my focus to fit my new life for my wife and children. Although I am truly happy, I realize that doesn’t mean I have to be content.

@@Radio1399 EXACTLY!!! Plus it will be so amazing to look back when they’re in college and say they come home on break. The next morning you go workout as usual and they just automatically come join you like they’ve never left. That moment will hit you hard but you’ve got to earn it slowly with regular workouts WITH your wife and kids now.

Hey Radio - great honest video here and I feel for you. Also, I appreciate you supporting my channel. Now, my thoughts on this situation is that you should follow whatever drives you and makes you feel good. You said you're happy and content, so maybe you don't need the workouts. For me being in my 50's has driven me to stay healthy as I get older. I was very athletic when younger and I'd like to maintain some of that and just ensure a healthy lifestyle. I don't want to compete, but want to look and feel good and the time I spend in my gym is like meditation for me (as is Yoga which I do often too). I love pushing the Iron and increasing my performance and making gains. It feels great to me and I'm going to keep it up for as long as I possibly can. I like being strong and maintaining a good posture and looking good in a suit! Several years ago I had realized I let myself go and I vowed to never let that happen again, so here I am on this journey. Whatever floats your boat, as long as you're happy, just keep doing you. Maybe the motivation will come back to you...Keep watching my videos and I hope it will. Best to you man!!

Hope you get your mojo back soon. Important to stay healthy as we get older - also a good example to your kids. Re the Powertec lat pulldown machine: I was considering buying one but in the end concluded I can just as good a back workout using my pullup/dip bar plus gymnastic rings. And they cost alot less space & money.

Thanks. I’ve been in the gym pretty regularly since I posted this video. I think I found a decent routine that gives me the best of both worlds. And I think the best piece of equipment is the one you have in front of you, you just have to know how to use it.

Marriage did the same thing to me , it took me taking on a new job to get me motivated. I took on a job where I have to be physical with people at the Hospital (In the psych corner) so now its become essential. Also RU-vid vids help especially in a home gym so you can share

Bro I’m literally watching this video and saying the same thing. Been married about two years and got everything I could ever ask for. The house the cars kids all of it. Sitting here waiting for my power tech to come in the mail. But to answer your question the reason you lost your motivation I believe had nothing to do with any of that. I just think physically your happy with what you see in the mirror. Unlike me I hate seeing this skinny dude in the mirror so I’m never going to stop. But appreciated the honesty so you got a subscribe.

So D, why did you get rid of powertec? Anyway, question on hex bar, m tall as you know. Will help with deadlifts for being tall. I read it does, I purchased one, havent used due to catching covid. But am excited to use it. Do you use this for shrugs and rows? Just trying to see if this was a neccassary purchase or impulse buy?
@Radio1399
@Radio1399 3 года назад
BG what’s up bro? The trap bar is great for deadlifts shrugs, and rows. Since the grip is neutral it’s not exactly like traditional deadlifts but it will hit the main muscles without the same worry of injury. If the price was right then it was a great purchase.

I did. I changed a couple of things in the gym and purchased a 9 week training program to give me some sort of schedule. I’m finishing the last week of the program, now I’m back like I never left.

We all need a lil David Goggins in our life. Especially when we become civilized savages. Happiness is such an awesome double edged sword. Just remember that it is never own, it is leased and equal regular payments are required. This is one of the reason why gyms are filled with divorced people. Let's not let it get to that lol I'd love to hear about the power tech.

Well said. I have David Goggins’ but I haven’t read it yet. It seems that now is as good a time as any to open it.
