How long did you wait before doing your first bike fit when you first started cycling? 🙋🏻♀For me, the answer is 4-5 months! If you're in Singapore, check out the guys at Performance Bike Fitter if you're looking to get one done too! bit.ly/3IBlWMa
Being a manager of a bike shop finding a good bike fitter is hard. I always recommend people get a professional fit but I always enjoy fitting people the best I can before they leave. I'd say I get them 90% where they need to be but a pro fitter can get them dialed. How does your fit feel so far?
You are leaning forward when doing a no hand test while pedalling. I am surprised that the bike fitter move your saddle forward. You will be experiencing more pressure in the hands.
I remember my first 100km ride before the bike fit. It was like doing some intense yoga for 5 hours lol after the bike fit I felt like I could ride forever
Thank you for videos. Fun to watch ;) I have one observation, when I got my new bike I realized that the seat was less slippery than from previous bike and I didn’t like that because the friction was not between the seat and the shorts, but between the shorts and my skin because the shorts were stuck to the seat, so I put the seat from old bike. Be safe, have fun, always looking forward to your new videos.
Very nicely edited video and loved your energy!!! I was confused why he moved your saddle forward! If you’re experiencing pressure in the hands, try moving the saddle a few MM back. This raises the height of the saddle without having to change the seat post. Hopefully it takes some pressure off the hands! All pressure should be on your sit bones!
Thanks for such a nice comment Luis! 😄 I'm going to give it a few more rides because I also have a feeling that maybe I'm just not used to the hand pressure because I perhaps got used to a "bad" posture haha.
@@sherrybyw I learned a great deal after my first bike fit and trying to solve my on-bike problems. Just know that everything is connected. If you shift saddle height or make any change it will affect other parts of the contact points. Your arm looks straight out locked it needs more bend to relieve pressure. Moving saddle back few mms might help but note that it will change other things. You should always feel comfortable on your bike. Also noticed that when you pedal your toes are pointed down a lot. Think of doing squat, you wont squat with your toes you do it with your mid foot or the heels down. Try to do some few mins of Glute activation exercises before your ride. It will help you. Push down pedal with your heels instead of your toes.
Really really cool channel! Loved your newest video, watched a few of ya and I have to admit, really informal but sympathic videos, love it! Keep up the good work and stay safe on the road 🤙🏼 greets from Germany
First comment! I hope!. Hi Sherry. This is William from Hong Kong. Love your videos about Tech and VC in SG, it inspired me a lot and I am going to Singapore to work in Tech next month! Hope to connect with you in SG.
I am not a bike fitting expert, but that move saddle forward didn't feel right to me. I notice that you have a fairly short stem, but the reach was still stretched (before the move) , making me to think if the frame size is a little too large. Just a thought ... congrats on the fit!
Saddle fore-aft is primarily dictated by the relationship of anterior-posterior muscle activation and center of gravity(stability). It is set irrespective of reach. To be fair to the reach assumptions, I think you should consider that her shoulders are not rounded and shoulder blades not protracted and upwardly rotated, and she is also not positioning her hands away from the hoods. Perhaps it just looks a bit more strenuous in her upper body, because she was not well supported on her seat before. Admittedly it is pretty difficult to assess, because there are so many variables going into how and why we move certain ways.
Wanted to ask the creator of this video. To be completely honest, on a scale of 1-10, how much of an improvement is with regards to the sitting posture and comfort level.
@@ronitdebnath I disagree with this. I've had a Retul bike fit and it's worked out great for me. The one flaw with Retul is the sit bone measurement. Most people don't sit like that on a bike so it's not the most accurate measurement.
@@SolomonOtoo you can only say "great" is you compare it against someone very good who can do it without a machine. I respect your disagreement nonetheless. If it worked for you, great.
by and large, road bikes have uncomfortable geometry that requires a lot of core strength to hold, which no amount of fitting helps. As mentioned, more core strengthening exercises is good. Don't buy into the marketing/myth that road bikes are inherently better. The best bike is one that suits your riding. If anyone prefers a long relaxing ride on roads, hybrids with a more upright riding position, coupled with a good road group set would be more suitable.
Wow... a very complete fit eh. Gotta get that done one day. :) As for the added pressure on the wrists, maybe try not locking your elbows. That would help a bit. Thanks for the vid.
Congratulations! Is incredible see a girl with passion for the bikes. In my country in my country almost men ride bicycles 🚲 Whatever... I love you for that 💜
This bike was really easy to assemble ru-vid.comUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
Kinda don't understand why he moved the seat forward. At 12:45 you can barely bend your body forward. If you move the seat forward, you will have a an even harder time bending forward and balancing.
Hi there, I don't mean to sound rude but I can tale that you are not really satisfied with this bike fit and that's because despite the fancy equipment that those guys were using, the whole fit was simply a pure nonsense. Again, don't get me wrong but I think you should get a proper bike fit with someone that really understands what needs to be done and not just following numbers suggested by some predisposed system. Anyways, enjoy your rides and keep up the good work!
Basing on sit bone width to choose saddle is just not right…the methodology is flawed…that’s because you don’t sit upright when you ride … more experienced bike fitters will tell you that…
Gimmick. I had my first bike fit thirty years ago at my local bike shop. It did not have all these fancy contraptions and it fitted me just fine. Unless you are entering tour de France, all these are overkill.
@@milkbunnies There is no excuse to be passive aggressive. If you don't like her makeup just say that lol. At the very least be upfront about your unsolicited opinion.
@@arenagrenade9672 you thinking way too hard about this … has nothing to do with liking or not liking, and you obviously do not ride a bike or at least not in the way that requires a bike fit. Ride that hard and the makeup will stream down your face… we live in an tropical environment with high heat and 90% humidity. It’s a valid question and neither you or anyone else can dictate what’s being said on the internet. Don’t like it?… tough deal with it.
