i don't know any more about rob, than what i just have seen in that tournament and nephew's videos. obviously he is a good player, but character's tier placements most likely still won't matter for his results. you can even argue that akuma is holding him back, atleast when it comes to matches against the very best, like nephew. because on top of playing a high risk/high reward character, he also plays with less health AND against a way more experienced player, that will punish almost every mistake like crazy. akuma on paper could be the best character in the game, but even if he will win like 1 out of 10 matches by himself, the fact that he can also lose a single round by himself is already enough for top players that want consistency, to pick other characters over him as solo main. maybe grinding ranks with him is easier, but ranks and mmr doesn't matter as much at a high level. and to me, outside of big tournaments, or let's say highest level of play, judging ANYONE for playing whatever character (aside from clearly flawed matchups) is downright stupid and just a sign of not clearly understanding, what tiers really mean. even top level players, when switching from their main to a "counterpick" + top tier character, most likely struggle to really use their advantage on paper. and how good this unpolished character really is, is even better than what we have seen today from nephew's random select... i'm just texting here because those comments about tiers and people abusing them got out of control, losts it's meaning a long time ago and it is just annoying right now. creativity also is a difficult thing... i'm not gonna disrespect rob here, but being creative against a far better/more experienced player is just not easy, to almost impossible. atleast from my understanding.
