A few months ago i bought another classic British car sight unseen. A 1972 Rover 3500 P6 barn find that has been sitting for 6-10 years. It's a lovely old V8 classic but it has been off the road for 12 years. It's almost summer and I want to enjoy the car this season. Let's do the bare minimum to get my Rover v8 back on the road after 12 year. In this video I flush the coolant system and replace all the hoses.

It’s heart warming to see a car being given the care it deserves, to keep it continuing to run sweet, nice Adam 👍🙂

I'm very envious of you with this car. You seem to have found a really nice example. Lovely.

It does my heart good Adam, to see a fellow classic car enthusiast work on this Rover V8. The ease, at which these cars & other Marques, to work on.

Those engines actually take 10W/30 oil according to that label, not 20W/50. Castrol now to a Classic GTX 10W/40 which may be more suitable.

This lovely car (that you stole !) just keeps on giving Adam . I still think you need to keep a very close eye on this car . If it's a toss up (choice ) between this and the 1300 your good lady will choose this every time ! Thanks Adam

This P6 has the best looking grille of all P6 models. I really like it. I'm probably biased because my dad's was the same!
@LivingWithAClassic

I agree! It’s my favorite grill for them too

What did you use to clean the hose connectors? Wire wool? Dremel with brush attachment?
@LivingWithAClassic
@LivingWithAClassic Год назад
If it’s pretty good just som very fine wire wool. If it’s bad, first some 80 sand paper.

Great progress on the P6 can't wait to see it back on the road! And I'd agree the Rover v8 is a joy to work on although my experience has been with it in range rovers

There will be an update video on all these. A few projects have been going on without filming especially if it’s customer cars.

You have definitely found yourself a lovely Rover. TLC and back on the road is a must. She will a fantastic compliment to your Jaguars. I have a Series 3 Townley V8 conversion Land Rover from 1972. Purrs like a kitten and quite a rare vehicle today. Best wishes from the UK.

I would have a look at the two grommets that support the throttle shaft, these always end up "dissolving" and makes linkage sloppy. Originals aren't available but after market ones are OK. May have to order from UK though.

The steering box is probably leaking Adam. There is a product which solves the problem. Semi Fluid Grease Oil. I wont put the makers name, one of my comments was deleted on another video. It's about 10euros.

The Rover P6 has a aluminum engine… I myself owed a P6, and I always used coolend without water in it!(corrosion) And be careful when you change the oilfilter! I put oil in it to keep oil pressure! And when you change it, do it as fast as you can. But I must say…you have a lovely car!😍
