Get the Roadmap to Freedom: www.sobrietybestie.com/roadmap
I'm so glad you're here for this video on getting off klonopin success stories (benzos). I was on Klonopin for 2.5 years and have been off them now for over a decade (I got off Klonopin in 2009).
This video is the first in "The Benzos Series" where my intention is to share with you my experience and the current science on getting off Klonopin (or getting off benzos in general).
I hope you found my klonopin recovery stories helpful. Here's the link for more klonopin reocvery videos aka The BENZO Series: bit.ly/TheBENZOSeries
The two things I most want you to know are around getting off Klonopin:
1. You CAN get off benzos, if that is what you and your doctor are aiming for. It IS possible. There is LIFE after Klonopin (benzos).
2. There is so much FREEDOM available to you. You can commit to courage and step by step walk into your new Klonopin (benzo) free life.
00:00 Getting Off Klonopin Success Stories intro
00:52 How I got off benzos video
01:15 My klonopin story
05:00 My doctor's benzo taper protocol
09:36 Courage to get off benzos
12:22 Emotionally numb
15:00 Benzo withdrawal
17:27 The secret way out
24:44 Choosing to live
25:25 Afraid to leave the house
In this video specifically I share my getting of Klonopin success story so that you can know it's possible and hear what my journey to freedom looked like.
I get a little intense in the end LOL because I am really passionate about helping people get free.
I'd love to hear from you in the comments!

And a support group. I stayed at the 1/4 cut until January of 2020.tjen I switched to a liquid taper. I pulled half a ml a night. Then in July of 2021 I got covid, double pneumonia. I was in bad shape, passing out all the time. I lived in a city that high in elevation. So being that sick I stopped tapering until this September. I do not want to hit tolerance. Thanks for your story hope you’re still doing well!! Im on klonopin too and instead of taking it everyday I suffer for a few days then give myself a heroic dose to completely numb myself on the days I do take it. I also drink around the clock otherwise I go into a full blown panic attack if I don’t have it. I used to be a successful filmmaker I can no longer work, just lost my girlfriend of 6 years and still grieving the death of my best friend a few years back. I know I’m worth so much more but currently killing myself. In and out of hospitals/rehabs the last year I still can’t face reality sober. Any advice would be huge. Thank you
@SobrietyBestie
@SobrietyBestie 11 месяцев назад
Hey I totally relate to this, I drank the way you use klonopin at the end of my drinking. It was like 3-4 days drinking around the clock then 3 days not drinking because my body couldn't handle it. What I can say is sobriety is possible if that's something you're interested in. I've been off booze and klonopin since 2009. I needed to go to rehab which I understand isn't accessible to everyone. I'm so sorry to hear about your grief and losses. Sometimes life can be so hard. But then again it can be great too like when you were a filmmaker. Good seasons lay ahead. My advice would be to start learning tools to navigate the "reality" that's hard to face sober. For me it was my intense emotions and anxiety that I couldn't cope with (without numbing them out). I have a video playlist on here called "Relax + Regulate" you can start there. Or any videos on RU-vid where you can learn to have a new relationship with anxiety, stress, discomfort, emotions (including grief) will help. You may also need more professional help like treatment, therapy, etc. I think everyone could benefit from therapy so I say that from a place of taking a stand for growth and empowerment. Even though the hospitals/rehabs didn't work before, don't give up. You may want to try mutual support recovery groups. There is light ahead of you. Keep choosing Life.

@@SobrietyBestie Thank you so much. I'm worried that the rapid taper permanently damaged me. But I can't change that now. I'm just glad I got that poison out of me. They make me feel bad, like I did something wrong. It really sucks.

@@CBT5777 oh wow that makes me roll my eyes.. most of us are desperate when we are looking to get off benzos or booze or anything rehab can help us with. No recovery path is perfect and we are just doing our best trying to get free. My rehab had some serious BS happen at, I'll spare you the details, BUT it's also where I turned my life around. I don't know if it's possible that rapid taper can damage our brains, you may know more than me here, but I do know it takes some people a LONG time to recover after benzos. I am on 1.5 mg xanax a day for the last year or so. I din’t think I had a problem till I’ve ran out of pills. On man - the last 36 hours have been hell. I got another prescription and today I took 0.75. I don’t feel great but is somewhat manageable. I am planning to take 0.75 for another two weeks, then 0.50, then 0.25 till I get to zero. I am not on any other medications. Just the evil xanax.

I didn't specifically hear you delineate the difference between courage in the face of feelings you mentioned such as fear/scared/nervous/anxiety/doubt and if or how a panic attack is something different than a thought/feeling combination. In other words, what is the difference, in your opinion, between embracing courage in the face of a panic attack versus embracing courage in the face of other types of thought/feeling combinations? Is there some grey area between the levels of escalation of fear, anxiety, panic, and something physical like a seizure? Is a panic attack an uncontrollable physical reaction closer to a seizure or is it just a fancy name, cop out, or lame excuse for someone not being willing or able to objectively separate themself from their anxious mind or their fearful thoughts?

It takes courage to do stuff while in the middle of a panick attack. Having a panick attacks doesent make you weak. It's how you react to it that makes you courageous. I think that's the point she's trying to make. Godbless.

@@dustygatrell-ru7tg you completely misread my question. My question is, what is the definition of a panic attack? Is a panic attack an uncontrollable physical reaction closer to a seizure or is it just a fancy name, cop out, or lame excuse for someone not being willing or able to objectively separate themself from their anxious mind or their fearful thoughts? Is there some grey area that can be defined as a panic attack, between the levels of escalation of fear, anxiety, panic, and something physical like a seizure? I wasn't suggesting that a panic attack makes you weak. I'm just trying to get a clear definition of what she considers a panic attack to be. Is a panic attack an emotion, a feeling? or is a panic attack a seizure? or is it some combination or something in between?

@@GreenRoomMusicClub a panick attack is just being overwhelmed by fear. Yet panic attacks can cause seizures an heart attacks. But I don't think they are like seizures tho. People with panick attacks have chenical imbalances in there brain. But panic attacks can also stem from a certain fearful or stressful situation. Atleast that's my take on it. Are you a athiest?

How long did it take to come off benzos?
@SobrietyBestie
@SobrietyBestie 11 месяцев назад
I tapered off benzos while in rehab for alcohol I think over about 10 days or so? I was in there for a month and they started the taper after one week... then I was on two other meds for 15 months to help my brain with "homeostasis." All in all it took me about 2.5 years to feel comfortable in my skin after getting off benzos and getting sober from alcohol. But there's no rules and most people have no benzo withdrawal symptoms.

@@freddyvalera8302 that is a great question and my guess is that once a month doesn't create dependency BUT I am not a doctor -- I am just going by what I've learned from the research. So I think it's a good question for your doctor. From what I read, benzo dependency (Klonopin) typically happens from daily usage that's more than several weeks (over 4-6 weeks of daily usage). Of course every BODY is different in how it reacts with Klonopin. We all have different pasts, different genes / neurology etc...

12:54 The emotional numbness is how I am feeling right now. I just started my journey of getting off benzos! I took clonazepam (Klonopin) for over 20 years as prescribed by a neurologist to supposedly help with my cervical dystonia! This is the year I finally thought I want off this stuff for good and see how my dystonia and life goes if not being stuck on the clonazepam. My family doctor isn't the best help but we are starting anyway! I gave her a copy of the Ashton Manual which has a great taper schedule or plan. She thought it was crazy to take 2 benzodiazepines at one time to taper from one to the other!! She has made me switch from the clonazepam straight to diazepam, she was smart enough to look up equal dosages. Oddly she thought diazepam was stronger than clonazepam!! Anyway I am doing alright so far with the switch over and will plan a taper to get off the diazepam! I hope my doctor will be willing to help me go slowly and taper the right way and not just make me rapid taper! Thanks for sharing your video! I appreciate it!
