Other than clothes for the baby you wont NEED anything. And remember... the cart that holds all of the baby goods that is provided by the hospital (diapers, binkies, formula, wipes, cream, hats, white onesies, blankets etc.) TAKE ALL OF IT! Your ins will be charged for it ALL even if you dont take/use it. If you leave it on the cart it gets tossed out because they cant just give it to the next patient. My BFF is as delivery nurse and is always so sad when they have to just throw it away.

Your friend was right! Fortunately, when I was a L&D nurse, we had a huge donation box to put what people didn't take. Some of our Drs volunteered and took supplies and donated their services to places in serious need at the time.
@kc26119
@kc26119 4 года назад
Coming from a former L&D nurse, if you run out of supplies for you or your baby, the nurses can bring more. There is plenty of stock on the unit for patients. They even supply disposable "fishnet" undies to hold everything in place. (Sometimes you need an ice pack on top of a big pad) I wouldn't bring good ones, because they could get stained.

I’d bring a button down shirt for Austin so he can do skin to skin easily. Also snacks are a great idea for you both. Hospital food can be hit or miss so I had a few protein bars, granola bars, and some trail mix for us to share.

Ashlie Leavelle I’m with you. New thing. Moms do it because we are breastfeeding. Other than that, sitting naked with your baby wasn’t something you did (back in the old days). I could see it if they were preemies and not able to be nursing.

An old tshirt is great for spaghetti lunches. Back in 1978 with our first daughter, I didn’t do a bag either. But I did prepare a going home outfit for either a boy or girl. (Girl). But my sweet new father and husband of 1.5 yrs brought a flannel gown for her and since she only weighed 6.5 ozs.... she swam in it! He felt so bad but I didn’t make a big deal.... she is now 41 almost 42 and we survived! People make huge deals over these things. The important part was she was healthy, we were scared but survived parenting ! I look back on those pictures and my heart is still overwhelmed! God gives such blessings to us, so not worrying over the small stuff is the best way of living. Oh I forgot, she was our rainbow baby! Lost our first daughter at 7 mos.

I've watched you grow up Joy and become such a beautiful confidant young woman. I am so excited for you and Austin; and while it will only be you two physically there you will have dozens of us there in spirit praying for yours and the babies health. For sure you pack house slippers or slipper socks so both you and Austin can move about the room without shoes. If you need a special pillow to sleep comfortably take it and take one for Austin. You may want to take him a blanket also and some snacks; hospital food and snack machines aren't cheap. I would take two or three pairs of pajamas or gowns in case you or the baby have an accident. Again I'll be praying for God's guiding hand on the doctor and nurses and for your little family as it grows from 3 to 4.

Hi Joy. Best advice I was ever given was from my cousin. Pack an ENTIRE first outfit for baby into a separate zip lock bag to pop on top of the baby's bag. Straight after labor when the nurses and Austin are looking for specific items of clothing for the baby, the bag will get turned upside down and things will be everywhere! 😅 make it easy and have diaper, socks, singlet, onesie, swaddle, everything, all ready to go! 🥰 all the best for your upcoming birth

I've had six babies in the hospital. You won't need half the stuff you packed. The hospital provides diapers, wipes, onesie, blanket, binkie, etc, everything for the baby. (I wouldn't worry *too* much about the cutest outfit for pictures either. There will be time for glam shots after she's home.) They'll also have lots of stuff for you. I would recommend you bring a FEW nursing pads if you're milk comes in quick, but I didn't really need them right at first. I also always brought a cozy crocheted blanket my grandma made for me and extra socks and slippers. It does get cold in the hospital, and they really don't have big fluffy blankets. It also just brought me a lot of comfort to have. I also always brought trial size super expensive luxury soaps. They give you some at the hospital, but they're very cheap, and I felt that I deserved a little pampering with a super pretty smelling soap. Also, I would bring some slippers, a charger, maybe a book or some music, Chapstick and any other cosmetics that make you feel human, and hair ties. For Austin, pack a little extra cash in case he needs to visit the cafeteria in the middle of the night, and some snacks for him. Also, a camera, and maybe earplugs or a sleep mask if he wants to rest while waiting. Hope this helps! I'm so excited for your sweet new arrival!

My recommendations...For momma: depends, witch hazel, ice packs, sweat pants, muslin pants (bands that don't rest to tight on your abdomen (in case you have a c-section), nursing tops, pajamas, tooth brush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo/conditioner, hair brush, detangler spray, and a baby wrap-carrier. Baby: boppy pillow, both newborn/0-3 month onsies (I had the opposite issue as you, I thought my son would be soooo big but he ended up being tiny), same thing with diapers, carseat, and carseat cover. I know you're scared about only having Austin, but I promise you it won't be as bad as you think. I only had my husband, I really liked having the time with just the three of us as a new family.

If someone hasn't already said it, bring your favorite sanitary pads. Yes the hospital will provide pads and mesh underwear, but their pads are terrible. They don't have the absorbent core. I'm telling you, when I switched to my own pads and panties it was a game changer. Let's just say their's were messy. 😕 You might be fortunate and your hospital will use a great name brand, but I personally will never risk it again. I suggest packing two pairs of pajamas for yourself. I know with Gideon you had a c-section which means extra nights in the hospital. I know accidents happen (see first suggestion) and night sweats so having a fresh pair of pajamas to change into can make you feel human again.

@@ayjamay LOL... the sofas they gave me weren't held into place well by those fishnet panties. If they dyed them black they might be scandalous. Perhaps you could pick between white, red, or black. Hehehe...

The hospital will provide 99% of the things you and buns both need, but one thing you can never have enough of for new borns is zip up onesies! The ones with 2 zips so it’s easy to change dirty bums are amaingggg! And a noise machine are life savers, you can get text size ones that just sit on the side or next to the crib and they save you going SHHHHHHHHGHH for hours at 3 in the morning, good luck beautiful, I’m manifesting a easy delivery for you and baby girl and dad ❤️

Toothbrush, hair brush, slippers and shower shoes (if you don't like hospital shower floors), snacks, some underwear because sometimes the ones they provide can fit to big and it feels like its not holding the pad in place. A little blanket because the hospital can get chilly/cold for the baby. Everything in that baby cart is yours so don't forget to take the things in there. Ask for diapers and wipes when your there they provide all that so you don't have to use yours. 🙂👍 Congrats and wait to see the next video!💕💕

Bring snacks! Because of Covid no one will be able to leave to get food. Also with late night early morning feeds you will want a snack handy. Protein bars, nuts, dried fruit, stuff like that! Also a robe, for when you are cold and it’s also easier to cover up real quick if a nurse or Dr. pop in! Best of luck Joy!

I had my baby girl the beginning of April this year. My husband was not able to be in the OR during the c-section. Since I went into labor in the middle of the night and family 2 hours away my husband literally had to drop me off at the door of the ER. He had to wait for his parents to come get our 2 older kids. We got to video chat during the delivery though so it made it an interesting and special birth. He finally was able to come a few hours after LilyAnne was born. It was sad but also kind of nice having the time with her. Same thing with not having visitors. It was sad but nice to bond with baby and able to get rest. Video chat through it. For hospital bag, snacks, lotion ( it works to tKe the meconium off easily.) nose spray and chapstick it gets dry in the hospital. Chargers for phones and other electronics. Maybe a robe slippers.

As a nurse who has worked in this field for almost 30 years I can tell you there are never enough pillows for labor and later for propping your elbows when nursing the baby so def bring those! Also maybe some mints or gum to keep your mouth moist and also fresh!

Lots of snacks and favorite drinks for you and Austin for after the baby is born and still in the hospital just in case the food isn’t good. Take home as many of their pads as possible along with some of those mesh underway just in case you are still bleeding heavy when you leave. Bring something of Gideons that will remind you of him so your not missing him as much. Make sure to to pack chargers for your all your electronics

A midwife would tell you different. When babies are first born the skin comes right up to the top of their nails, both fingers and toes. There are no gaps between the nails and finger or toe tips like adults or older babies have. If you cut them the baby will feel it, it will bleed and the cut is open to infection.You do not cut them at all, when the baby is old enough and the gap appears you can peel the top of the nail away after a bath, when they are softer. The best thing to do is to pack the little mittens you can buy for exactly that purpose. Also allot of the onsies have the fold over cuffs built in. Some babies tear themselves apart with their nails, some don't , so I suppose it's good to have those or mits on hand.
