When Ashley read her speech I wasn’t expecting to cry. Her talking about being an Asian American women really hit home. I remember always being proud to see at least one person that looked like me. Just representation alone for me was enough. I’m glad that I found Ashley because she truly is a role model that I truly look up to. Also if you can’t understand this comment I would like to apologize, I’m still in my feels.

one of the things i love about ashley is how she's always very reflective on her life whether it be her in the past, present, or what she hopes for in the future and reflective on how society and the world are changing , especially cuz she doesn't have to be or when she's filming videos like this grwm or a thrift haul. you wouldn't expect her introspections on life in these sorts of videos but they add a special like, detail to all her vids and are truly one of the things that makes her and her content so special. love you sm ashley, you deserve the world

i'm pretty sure this comment will get lost in hundreds of others, but if you come across it somehow, there's this book called "beauty sick" by renee engeln and it's fantastic! it talks about beauty standards and how it affects women. the author is a college professor, but she didn't base the book entirely on her knowledge, she also interviewed a lot of women about their struggles in a beauty-driven world. i would highly recommend it not just to ashley, but to everyone here!

I think Ashley is very powerful in a way that she knows and understand what her flaws are but also that she knows what her strengths and what makes her Ashley. It's just so inspiring to see her talk all the time because she always says some really intellectual stuff. I love her so much. All her videos are like a Ted talk of some sort only much much more relatable and her stories are always something full of insight. Thank you Ashley. To be honest I teared up at your speech at the end. These awards can feel like a great achievementTM but they are also given by people with limited knowledge, empathy, and with various interests at heart. I feel like it's important to remember that the real measure of success is the positive influence you have on other people's lives, and your personal growth. So, I felt like you "won" listening to your speech here in a video even more so than if I'd listen to you giving it on stage. Congratulations!!

Ashley. I almost cried at your makeshift speech. You inspire me so much. I am also Asian American, Chinese American to be exact, and I am really really passionate about touching others with my music, but I am also really really focused in school lol. SO I relate to you in so many ways. Sometimes I worry that my chances of sharing life and feeling through music are minimized because of my ethnic background, but you show me that anything is possible.
