Love what you do. Working on some big biogas stuff myself. You got me into it a while back, been hooked ever since. My first thought for a name was "Fart Shack" unfortunately. Cheers!

Great to see you are going to make biogas again was wondering if you still were. I'm building another IBC digester this coming spring and putting heat coils inside this time.

Hey Daniel - your new set-up is a lot like mine. I'm in temperate, coastal North America. If the last couple of weeks are an indication as to where the climate is going, I definitely will need supplemental heat for my digesters. How about "GasCave" for your place's moniker?

Gday mate My digestion system is coming along I hsbe question for u If I was to heat the digestate up to boiling or close enough(at least over 65.c) is that going to affect the bacteria potential for methane production Reason I’m doing so is to remove as much pathogens as possible

@FBPrepping

Depending on the size of your digester, you could wrap it with styrofoam pearls and some cover. This should keep it warmer.
@adamsaquatics3332
@adamsaquatics3332 Год назад
@Jose Martinez it's a 250 gallon IBC tote. But I'm in north Wisconsin. That last big cold front it was -62°F here. I think I gave up on keeping it warm. Just have to clean and restart every year.

Delayed unfortunately, there has been substantial flooding around my area in Northern NSW and Queensland, many homes destroyed, I work in insurance repairs and am inundated with claims, travelling back and forward between the states helping people.

Hi Daniel, I am trying to get my biodigester started, I am using an IBC and so far I have added about 100 litres of cow manure and about 600 litres of bore water. I have a black IBC sitting in full sun and most days on average the digester would be in the high twenties. I have not added any food scraps to the digester as I have been letting it sit until it starts to produce gas. It has been sitting for almost a month with no gas being produced, I measured the PH today and got a reading of 6. Do you think the bore water would be an issue? Should I dump the contents and start again with cow manure and rain water? How long would it normally take to produce methane? Would it be worthwhile trying to add baking soda to try and increase the PH?
@OkAtEverything-ProAtNothing
@OkAtEverything-ProAtNothing 2 года назад
Good morning Robert, I wouldn’t dump it yet, I’m actually having the same problem this time round too, I would try adding more manure for higher ratio and add some small buckets daily too. The only thing I can think of that I may have done different the first time, was I added an aquarium heater to boost temps up to 30degrees, remember the idea is to simulate a cows insides, 30-40 degrees I’m sure would get it going faster. One group I’m in, a bloke waited his out and it took 118 days to produce without added heat. Good luck and keep us posted.
@MortifiedU
@MortifiedU 2 года назад
@@OkAtEverything-ProAtNothing 118 days 🤯.. thanks, makes me feel a smidge better. I am in Cooktown, now you would think 30c would be easy. At 35 days and zero gas so far. 🤣
@FBPrepping
@FBPrepping Год назад
@@MortifiedU I went to a slaughter house and got the content of the last stomach (rumen). Messy but I´m sure if my pH would have been over 7 it could have worked. I´ve been in this the last 6 months and still nothing.

Hey dude, what happened did you quit youtube? Havent seen anything hope youre alright
@OkAtEverything-ProAtNothing
Hey mate, thanks for your concern and checking in, I started getting everything up and running and recording, but mid way through NSW and QLD got hit with floods, and because I do insurance works, I have been away from home for extended periods and unable to dedicate time to it, but the event claims are slowing down🤞and hopefully the extreme weather holds off, I actually picked up some parts for it last week and spent a bit of time down there, so hopefully I get it inoculated and up and running again soon. Cheers.

@@OkAtEverything-ProAtNothing Talking about insurance, does anyone know if there would be any known issues with using home biogas in Canada, or the US? I'm curious if there's fine print somewhere that says there's no coverage because you modified your BBQ or hot water tank and burned down your house. 🙂
