🚨 BALDUR'S GATE 3 EARLY ACCESS GAMEPLAY - SPOILERS AHEAD! 🚨
At the end of Early Access, you have the opportunity to begin your romance with one of the party members. I, of course, wanted to choose Astarion. Unfortunately I was rejected HARD. And my heart is broken.
I also tried to go for Gale & Wyl - they also both rejected me. So apparently I have no game whatsoever.
I am going to call up Larian Studios about this. I CAN'T BELIEVE I FAILED SO HARD!

I rushed through my first playthrough and got this response from him. I laughed my ass off. I did find out, that if I choose one of the other options he was more than happy to come on to me XD

this is the most evil thing I've ever seen the npc do to anyone. And then he just hit you with a shovel in the face. "I have standards". This made Irenicus look like Don Juan. Damn Larian XD

This was so funny, but I felt so bad for you when you were genuinely hurt about the rejections! 😂😂😂 Especially how after every half an hour, you'd check to see how your relationship with each was doing

I love how the character goes from a little bit sad to full pissed after the "I have standards." xD Really digging the facial animation so far in the game, if they are here in the EarlyAccess.

He absolutely does not have standards. In my playthrough, he got "used" by Lae´zel. (After I rejected her for Shadowheart.)

Not sure if anyone mentioned it yet or if you went back and tried other options, but you need to let Astarion suggest having "quality time" instead. If it's his idea and you go for it, he'll be pleased. If it's your idea he'll say no.

Oh, no, i'm sorry to say that but not exacly. I suggested him the same thing and he was all for it - he said (and i checked) "Well, that would certanly spice up this evening" and then ask me to sneak out from bed in night. So... he just don't like it when he doesn't like you that much? I had "high" in the relationship status.

I had Very High in his relationship level, and was completely forward and said "I planned to bed you" he told me he won't get in the way of well-laid plans and we spent the night. It's got to be tied around the relationship level. I've only seen Neutral, Medium, High, Very High, and currently Exceptional.

Fun fact, if you let Astarion proposition you he doesn't mind, but if you proposition him he declines if your reputation is not high enough. I think it might be a control thing, since he hasn't had the free will to choose for a while.

Were you playing a evil character? If so then that might be it, I heard that he doesn't like it when you're too evil regardless how high your relationship with him be. Also Gale's romance trigger is bugged but can be triggered and available. :)

I was playing a somewhat neutral character. His opinion of me was neutral. Gale's opinion of me is Very High. I went back to this dialogue with Astarion and realize it was only a matter of one incorrect dialogue choice. If a chose a different option it would have triggered the romance scene. I chose .... Poorly. LOL

@@MissMagitek It might also depend on whether you gave him the necromancy book, I made the right dialogue choices and still got rejected... but thankfully I hadn't opened the book yet, so I was like, "Oh yeah?? We'll see after I get that book." I was still on the level of "medium" after giving him the book, even though I was trying just evil enough to keep him happy.

I got this too you have to say certain options leading up to it. "Really, saving lives is awful?" "True. Goblins would have thrown a wilder party." "What's your idea of a little fun?" Then ta-da! I'm assuming you need at least a neutral or medium approval.

if you have a very high approval (best friend) you can say anything, and he`ll still want you 😂 and if you choose somebody else, in my case it was shadowheart, he`ll get upset and tell you to piss of 😁

That’s what I was wondering too? I haven’t gotten there yet, but it makes me wonder if it could be a glitch. I heard even people who have super high approval get rejected.

He doesn't like it when you are offering, probably makes you look desperate. You have to choose something else and let him offer it himself.

I went back and tried again on this playthrough - and it was only a matter of changing one dialogue option. When he says he wants to "have a little fun", my reply was wrong. I needed to choose "And what's your idea of a little fun?" to trigger the romance scene. Can't believe I messed this up with only a matter of ONE CHOICE. 😂😂

@@MissMagitek .... I didnt romance him at all tbh... he asked me out 3 times but i turned him down everytime :D (1time for Shadowheart, 2 times for Laezel ....i mean you dont want Laezel to get mad at you if you want to stay alive :D )

I wonder how low the approval needs to be for that. My first play through approval with him teetered around medium and high, of course high once this party happened, and voila, we got close. I'd die if he rejected me thinking about it now. Those feels.

For anyone else that also got rejected, I hadn't given anyone the book yet and someone suggested that might help. So I replayed this scene after giving him the book, because the right dialogue choices didn't work for me either, and sure enough even though he remained neutral/"medium" to me if I didn't suggest sleeping together then he did. I still feel that first rejection, though, pretty brutal 😖😭

It may be a bit late for this comment but if you want to romance astarion you have to ask him what his idea of fun is or that this better not mean you want to kill something. I did the same thing and got rejected my first run. Love your videos btw😘

I've been rejected all of my worthless life. Rejected by women,"family",neighbors,society....by everyone 😪 My life truly does suck. I am alone and unwanted. I will never know how it ever feels to be loved by anybody 😟 I hate myself and I wish I had never been born. I wouldn't even care if I didn't wake up tomorrow morning 😥 That's how much I hurt. But anyway. Sorry for ranting. Great video and channel 👍
