I would love to see a “taking my clothes to get altered” to give it a second or third chance of life. It would be cool to see what ideas u come up with to change or fix pieces of clothing and ur experience going to an alteration place! Love this video!
Altering has been a game changer. So much money has been saved and I feel so confident wearing my clothes now bc they actually fit my body. Very excited for your video, Carrie! :)
Have you heard of Suay in LA? It would be so cool to see you take some things there and have them re-work it. They have a community dye bath each month and it made me think of it when you got rid of all the white Ts or the stained items!
It was refreshing getting rid of the majority of clothes in my closet. I kept holding onto pieces thinking “one day I’ll wear it or need it”.. when really I knew I wasn’t even going to touch it. Now I’m very mindful of what pieces I buy.
Hey Carrie! I’m curious if you feel you are less particular regarding what you purchase when it’s thrifted? (I.e. are you more choosy when not buying second hand?)
Carrie, would you consider making an online thrifting for beginners/tips & tricks video? I rarely go clothes shopping at all because money is so tight, except for a few things at Christmastime I basically never buy any new clothes for myself. I would love to start thrift shopping online since the Goodwill & thrift stores in rural Ohio aren't exactly overflowing with cool stylish pieces lol but I have zero clue where to start with buying from places like Thredup or Poshmark & I'm too afraid to spend what little money I do have on something only to get it & realize it doesn't fit, isn't what I was hoping for, etc. Love your videos! 🥰✌🏼
I’d love to see you try a capsule wardrobe for a week-10 days. You always seem to have so many nearly outfits/ individual pieces you love - so it may push you to style these pieces in new ways ❤️
I wish I had your quick decision making skills for my own closet! *Suggestion: I think I would have rather seen a camera shot of the pile of clothes you were getting rid of vs the amount of hangers, since a lot of the hangers were for clothing items you were keeping. Also, everyone loves to see the massive mound of items people are letting go of in these purge/declutter videos. So satisfying.
Carrie, as a long time follower, one thing I love about your wardrobe is the way it’s constantly changing! I swear, I’m over here in the same style for the past 10+ years (what I wore through high-school basically) and especially now in my mom era, my own clothing is just so low on my list of priorities. But I love watching how you change and evolve all the time with your clothes. I think I’m living a little vicariously through you. It’s not me but it’s so fun to see! 💕 Ps- I’d kill for that Aerie shacket if ya wanna hit a girl up. 😂
I’d rather have clothes that last for years, than giving into trends that last barely a season like Carrie does. Like it’s honestly alarming how often she purges her closet and how much she gets rid of, even if does go second hand. Styles change I get it, but this lady is saying she’s in her new “insert era” every 2 weeks 😂
The first time I heard of thredUP was through your channel and I FINALLY just got my first order and I’m absolutely thrilled with the price, how easy it is to shop, the shipping options…. It just goes on and on.
I love when you do these videos. It inspires me to do closet clean outs more often. It shows we all go through seasons in our life were we are into certain things then our styles/body/interests change. Also being a midsize/plus size person i feel like every time i purge im putting things out there that others my size can enjoy. Also i know this wasnt the topic in this video but wanted to thank you for shareing your journey of fashion with us. Just being reassured that our gender, body, age dont matter just wear what makes us happy. I always hear your voice in my head when thifting. (Along with Alexa and Karina too). You all three are inspirering.
8:44 I think the cherry cardigan could look cute with the green pants you have on. And the white tank. Add some necklaces and either white or red sneakers. 🍒
I have an overstock where I put items I’m not sure I can part with. It’s nice because I can shop in that when I feel like I want something new. Sometimes I just need to store an item away for the piece to feel new again.
Have you tried those rent clothing places? I wonder if you would benefit from that for special events. If anything I think a certain place to store longer or unique items you are trying to figure out how to style would help.
Hey Carrie! So F+F is the Tesco (one of our supermarkets) fashion line. A bit like Target’s own brand type thing. Can definitely get some good finds there 💜 xx
I would definitely love that bright colorful striped sweater. Definitely hope you list that because I would definitely buy it and the teddy bear sweater
As someone 4 months into her postpartum body - I am struggling with my clothing situation. Between my new ((giant)) bewbs that are *literally* sustaining the life of a tiny human and a body that has new curves, a closet clean out if desperately needed! None of my clothes fit right, everything is just a little too tight and weird and…ITS TIME. I’m sick of feeling bad about my body as I’m trying to wear clothes from the old me! I’m new and improved, baby! Time for my clothes to reflect that ❤ Thank you Carrie for the inspiration. 😊
I don’t suggest getting rid of everything because I did go back to my pre baby weight, and then lost some. Everyone is different but I was glad I didn’t get rid of my pre baby clothes since I didn’t have to buy a whole new wardrobe.
For a lot of the low cut cardigans and sweaters you can try wearing a mock neck or turtleneck cami underneath and it makes it look really cute and adds an academia aesthetic
When you mentioned you wished the orange silky button-up was black, i was like DYE IT!! I'd love to see a vid where you try to alter your clothes in that way. Even if it comes out awful, lol.
Will thredup ever do sponsored discount codes for non-first time shoppers? I love thred up and am always wanting to put in a new order after watching your videos -- you find the best stuff!
Loved this video! It totally encouraged me to pair down my own closet and make sure I can see the items I love and bring me joy. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ love your content and personality and awesome vibes Carrie! Sending lots of good vibes your way. I always look forward to watching your videos. They are so comforting and chill and always relax me.
I've been trying to find that black and brown checked dress second hand since I saw you get it!! Carrie my queen pleaseeeeeeee sell it to me lolll ❤🙏😍😭
Closet purge videos by you are really MY FAVORITE Videos of the year! Not sure why it heals my soul watching this (btw I myself did clothes purge 2 weeks ago!), but I love them! Greetings from Germany!
I am sooo sad that you got rid of the colorful striped Target sweater. I got it because of you. Same with the ginham brown and black dress also from Target. I got it because of you too…😢 I am not letting mine go, though…
I have the cream version of that crochet sweater and it’s so good! (love the colorful one too). AND I found the gingham wild fable dress on Poshmark bc I saw her in it and fell in love. If I’m not personally thrifting it, I’m google image searching outfits from my favorite thrifters. 😂❤
Great job being ruthless! If you don't like the way it fits, don't keep it around. I just had to clear out like 70% of my closet because I've bulked up and my long sleeves, fitted dresses, and pants were all too tight on my guns 💪and buns 🍑
I just wanted to mention this for anyone looking to sell clothes on thredup. I sent them a bag at the end of February, received March 5th, and it just moved to the "processing" phase TODAY. Over two months. And my estimated completion date is June 12th (36 MORE days). I like and support thredup but if you're looking to have some extra cash by selling your clothes, just know there's a very very long processing time. (3 months when all is said and done)
Omg!! I'd love to have that Aerie shacket when you get ready to sell it:) Also, props to you for getting rid of so many items in your closet. I've been trying to do a huge closet purge like this for years, but I always change my mind because I worry that I won't find something similar that fits me better.
For that green sweater where the buttons gap - there's double sided fabric tape that you can use to stick the area between the buttons to keep it together! And the tape is easy to remove if you want to wear the sweater open too lol I have to do this with all my fitted cardigans and it works so well!
Maybe unrelated, but i really appreciate how open you are about experiencing ADHD related meltdowns ❤ i am AuDHD and experience these too, sometimes i don't even realise how overwhelmed i am until it just comes crashing down like a wave 😅 always nice to see other neurodivergent people i can relate to
The best thing about this video is that I literally just bought an outfit very similar to what Carrie is wearing in this video. Khaki linen pants & a white tank. So cute! 🥰
I love that cherry print top! I'm not a colourful person, but I would absolutely wear that fully buttoned up tucked into a teal a-line skirt... love it...
That white tunic sweater you said you were going to donate right at the beginning ! I will buy it from you because I have been trying to find something like that!!
love the grey/green chunky waffle oversized shaket from aerie (at least i think it's from aerie you didn't say) will deffo be keeping my eye out for you reselling that one!
I know its part of your job, but holy doodle clothes! I work at a hospital so most of my wardrobe is scrubs and my evenings and couple days off mostly consist of loungewear... but i wish i could come shopping in your closet! So much cute stuff!
I started the purge today. I have a few more closets to get through with not just clothes but things I threw in there and don’t use. I’m hoping to move in a year and I want less to take with me !
I'd love a closet clean out with drew! I did it with my bf and I didn't get rid of much stuff cause he was giving me nice feedback on everything I tried ahah my hype boy
I got my first thredup order recently. Shipping was a bit slow but I’m so happy with everything I got. I needed a black blazer for work and I got an excellent condition Ann Taylor blazer for only $32. It’ll last a long time and won’t end up in a landfill!
